   I always find myself frustrated by the PR and Earning call lack of granularity. I am very encouraged by the qualitative statement that the "performance in the EU was better than expected". I always look for traction in the EU 1st since sales for most products are not constrained by the RUO limitation, the way they are in the States. As I have said before BCART can currently target roughly 10% of the US market. That is why this weeks filing of the 510K is so important.
   
   In the EU the combination of EGFR and Gene Fusion will now cover most of the Lung panel test. Gene Fusion is only RUO but it is likely that the uptick in sales is occurring in anticipation of IVD approval for the fusion assay. Unfortunately without specific geographic and assay specific sales data we cannot gage this traction for ourselves. Hopefully the recent IVD approvals in Russia and Taiwan help with the ROW ramp. The encouraging part of the Idylla business model is that the size of the worldwide market is increasing with each new IVD registration. They have and are incurring most of the cost for placing sales teams and establishing 3rd party distribution agreements. As the products are approved for IVD use BCART is finally in a position to begin to realize a greater return on their investments.
   
   I don't suspect that we will get the granularity into the product sales mix any time soon. The Covid testing will subside but there will be a considerable backlog of oncology testing since many procedures have been deferred.

   Ronduit ontgoocheld,de koersreactie.70% meer cartridges aan de man gebracht.Blijkbaar hebben ze al geld teveel aangezien ze tot 10 milj € obligaties van SkylineDX gaan opkopen!Waarom zitten we ons al die tijd zorgen te maken om de cashpositie? De Koers van het aandeel blijft nu al jaren onder het vriespunt,uit vrees voor een kapitaal operatie,dit is nu ook niet meer nodig.

   Agreed FL. Not sure why there's no number to these results? Is this just preliminary quarterly update? Investors should get quantitative statement, not qualitative statement and judge for themselves, I would like to think. At the end of the day, I'm still accumulating at this market cap (or EV) but would still like more granularity in reporting as you say.

   Skin cancer is an attractive market. Apparently Skyline completed the trial, it was successful and they are in the process of rolling out the lab version of the test. Given the size of the markets discussed in the PR. I doubt that this could be a Killer Ap. I'm always looking for (i.e., an Assay with great uptake that really drives sales). However, it looks like a logical piece in the puzzle. If they can place a lot more Idylla consoles in dermatology practices or the labs that serve them, this is not an insignificant market. It looks like BCART will assume the responsibility for commercialization. Presumably, BCART will pay SkylineDx a royalty in the 10% area. This relationship was turned around in the OncotypeDx example. Hence, the terms of the collaborative agreement are not as favorable up front (i.e., it does not come with a cash infusion to BCART). As you mention, one has to wonder why BCART is content to pay upfront to defer the revenue stream a few years down the road.
   
   Mayo has a good record in launching successful IVDs. They were Exact Sci's early partner in launching Cologard.

   The problem is a red one on the wheel in the biggest economy of the world. A lot of people were happy that Biden got elected but we will see what this does to the working class . This doesn’t mean that Trump was ok but something in between would have been a lot better. I predict taxes, taxes and taxes . This will limit peoples hapitide to invest in more risky investments . We in Europe know everything about that .

   That is certainly the concern. Yesterdays announcement that capital gains on long term investments may no longer receive the preferential 20% rate (the rate may be increased to the nominal tax rate perhaps as high as 40%). That said Trump was a cancer with the cronyism where all of his cabinet took the position with the Idea of using it for their personal gain, Also, the conspiracies and denial of science were intolerable. The trashing of long term alliances and treaties sowed distrust in the U.S. throughout the world. Need I go on. These things generally benefited Russia making me question Trumps true motivation.
   
   The fact of the matter is that the pendulum may need to swing back. The baby boom generation has been the beneficiary of numerous policies and programs. Improving the US infrastructure is long overdue and will pay long term benefits (much of which will be enjoyed for decades by younger generations). If one of the pay fors is the loss of preferential long term cap gains treatment in a taxable account, I'm willing to bite the bullet.

   Yes it is preliminary. New agreements, relative cartridge uptake, and brief outlook. However, don't look for more clarity on geographic distribution of sales or numbers on specific assays in September. The breakdown is never provided at such scale. Some of this might be for competitive reasons. You would have better insights into this than I do. If BCART provides a lot of specific detail, will Fisher or Roche step up sales efforts if they perceive a competitor is gaining a foothold. I've convinced myself that this is a valid reason not to provide this breakdown.

    Zie eerdere post: op 12 april alle aandelen Biocartis verkocht. na 2 jaar, vandaag, weer van hetzelfde: even een klein herstel en dan weer naar onder, dat is al 2 jaar zo: van koers van 12 euro naar 4,30 euro. Zoals vermeld op dezelfde dag Tui aandelen gekocht aan 4,35 euro wel 3 keer zoveel aandelen: nu al 15% winst op Tui, en x3 omwille van 3 keer zoveel aandelen, mijn gok is voorlopig meegevallen en mijn verlies op Biocartis is al een pak goedgemaakt.

    Ik moet ook wel zeggen dat ik verrast ben door de sterke daling vandaag en ik kan me inbeelden dat het voor aandeelhouders die er al enorm lang in zitten frustrerend is. Zeker als je aan 12 euro en dergelijke aangekocht hebt. Nu toch al vaak de laatste tijd positief tot heel positief nieuws gekregen, maar toch beweegt de koers nagenoeg niet.

    afgezien van de maatschappelijke reden heb ik ze voor de lange termijn in de verwachting dat ze iets goeds gaan brengen. Biocartis dan, de koers volgt vanzelf. Of het wordt een overnamekandidaat voor 1 van de grote spelers.

    De beurskoers van Biocartis beweegt nu al bijna een jaar zijdelings tussen grosso modo 4 en 5 EUR, een pak lager dan de introductieprijs van 11,5 EUR in 2015. In 2019 kreeg het aandeel een serieuze tik toen de distributieovereenkomst met Thermo Fisher in de VS werd opgezegd na een vertraging van de cartridgevolumes in de VS. Vorig jaar kwam daar nog Covid-19 bij, waardoor ziekenhuisbezoeken moeilijker werden en de lancering van sommige kankertesten wat vertraagd werd.
    
    
    
    Pijnpunt blijft ook dat er nog altijd veel cash (vooral verkoop- en R&D-kosten) wordt ‘verbrand’. Vorig jaar was dat 54,8 mln. EUR en dit jaar zal dat zelfs rond de 70 mln. EUR zijn, waardoor eind dit jaar nog maar 50 mln. EUR op de bankrekening zal staan. Een kapitaaloperatie tegen eind dit jaar is dan ook realistisch. Bovendien is er ook nog de converteerbare obligatie die in 2024 vervalt. Met een conversieprijs van 12,89 EUR is de kans groot dat die terugbetaald zal moeten worden. Om de cashuitstroom te stoppen, is een omzet van meer dan 100 mln. EUR nodig, en die kaap ronden we wellicht pas in 2023. Cruciaal blijft de verdere uitbreiding van het testmenu en de geografische uitbreiding (naar China en Japan). Want dat stimuleert de plaatsing van Idylla minilabo’s en het verbruik van cartridges. Positief is wel dat de toename van het cartridgeverbruik versnelt (naar +40 à +60% dit jaar) en dat ook de gemiddelde verkoopprijs toeneemt (+7% in 2020). Bovendien daalt ook de productiekost van de cartridges door de overschakeling naar de nieuwe productielijn, wat de marges ten goede komt. De toename in het eerste kwartaal met 70% van het cartridgeverbruik sterkt het bedrijf dat de jaardoelstelling realistisch is. Of we aan de onder- of bovenkant van deze vork zullen uitkomen hangt af van de verkoop van Biocartis’ Covid-testen, waar de groei mogelijk zal vertragen naarmate de vaccinatiegraad toeneemt. Biocartis ontwikkelt momenteel een gecombineerde test voor Covid-19, griep en RSV, wat dit tegen de start van het griepseizoen in het najaar zou moeten bufferen. Dat griepseizoen kan dit jaar wel eens hevig zijn door de afbouw van de contactrestricties. De groei van de oncologietesten zal naarmate de situatie in de ziekenhuizen weer normaliseert ook weer versnellen. In oncologie strikte Biocartis trouwens met SkylineDx een nieuwe partner. In eerste instantie wordt een test voor het snel en eenvoudig controleren van uitzaaiingen bij melanoom (vorm van huidkanker) ontwikkeld. Deze innovatieve test belooft alvast een mooie prijszetting, wat de marges versneld kan doen toenemen.

    Good synopsis of the "glass half full" situation that is our investment in Biocartis! I believe .that the convertible offering term was set knowing that the IVD registrations in the US, China, Japan, etc would set the stage for sales ramp and profitability such that the share price conversion will be attractive.
    
    In the next 24 months or so, it will become apparent whether the geographic expansion and product offering expansion will drive the growth in the manner we have been anticipating. If this comes to fruition Biocartis can follow the trajectory of Cepheid and be a great holding for a decade or more. If BCART fails to negotiate this step, they will likely be acquired on the cheap. It is time for Verrelst & Co. to deliver. They have been recruiting and hiring new employees as if this transition was right around the corner. Now we will see if it materializes. If it does, we can finally break out of the share price base that has has drug out for more than a year and tested all of our patience.
