   March 19 (Reuters) - Scandinavian airline SAS SAS.ST said on Tuesday a U.S. Bankruptcy Court had approved its Chapter 11 plan of reorganization.
   
   U.S. Bankruptcy Judge Michael Wiles approved SAS AB’s bankruptcy restructuring at a court hearing in Manhattan, clearing the airline to move ahead with a restructuring that includes a $1.2 billion investment from a consortium of bidders, including the Danish government.
   
   The deal will provide up to $325 million in value to the airline’s junior creditors through a combination of cash and equity in the reorganized company.
   
   The restructuring will allow SAS to emerge from bankruptcy as "a more competitive and financially stronger airline," SAS attorney Kelly DiBlasi told Wiles at the hearing.
   
   SAS, which filed for bankruptcy in July 2022, used its Chapter 11 case to resolve a pilots strike, renegotiate labor agreements, and reconfigure its aircraft fleet, in addition to the financial negotiations, DiBlasi said.
   
   The company’s exit from bankruptcy will be financed by $1.21 billion in funding from hedge fund Castlelake, airline Air France-KLM, investment manager Lind Invest ApS and the Danish state.
   
   The restructuring was supported by an "overwhelming majority" of the airline's creditors, Diblasi said in court.
   
   The restructuring will result in the cancellation of SAS equity, with no payments to existing shareholders.

   STOCKHOLM, May 21 (Reuters) - Scandinavian airline SAS , which exited bankruptcy protection in March, has signed a new three-year partnership deal worth 4.5 billion Swedish crowns ($421 million) with travel group Apollo, the carrier said on Tuesday.
   
   SAS, which already cooperates with Apollo, said in a statement the Nordic travel group will remain its largest partner in the charter sector.
   
   "The agreement means that SAS remains Apollo's major charter operations partner in Scandinavia from the summer of 2025 through the summer of 2027," it said.
   
   SAS has been struggling to survive for years due to high costs, tough cut-price competition and the slump in demand during the pandemic.
   
   A U.S. bankruptcy court in March approved SAS' Chapter 11 plan of reorganisation, ensuring the carrier's continued operation.
   
   "The agreement with Apollo is an important part of our strategy to seasonally adjust our flight capacity," the airline said.
   
   Apollo is part of German retail and tourism group REWE.

   BRUSSELS, June 28 (Reuters) - The European Commission has approved, under EU state aid rules, a 1.3 billion euro ($1.4 billion) restructuring state aid programme for Swedish airline SAS , it said on Friday.
   
   In 2020, Denmark and Sweden took part in COVID-19 pandemic state aid measures to help SAS, which was hit as global travel was shut down due to the pandemic.
   
   "To limit any possible distortions triggered by the public support, SAS will reduce its presence on the overall air transport activities," said Margrethe Vestager, the EU's Executive Vice-President in charge of competition policy.
   
   This could be through, "among others, a reduced fleet, limited ground handling and maintenance business as well as the release of several slots", she said.
