   BAM Construction is emerging as favourite for the job to build the country’s biggest Free School in Leeds.
   
   The firm is understood to be up against Sir Robert McAlpine for the £21m contract to build a new Ruth Gorse Academy in Leeds.
   
   Sources have told the Enquirer that Bam is looking like the favourite to take the deal to build the Government-funded free school on derelict land between Black Bull Street and the New Dock development close to the Royal Armouries.
   
   The new school building will sit on the former Yorkshire Chemicals site in a growing “educational cluster” on the emerging South Bank of the city, surrounded by the nearby Leeds City College Printworks Campus and Leeds College of Building.

   It is envisaged to have four floors, but the site will incorporate indoor and outdoor sports facilities as well as making use of nearby college campus facilities and the John Charles Centre for Sport.
   
   It will eventually have 1,580 pupils and 150 staff, and it is hoped the development could also drive the regeneration of the south of the city centre.

   Parteon bouwt 122 woningen in Wormer: Wormervelden
   
   Woningcorporatie Parteon zal de komende jaren samen met BAM 122 woningen bouwen in Wormer. De eerste fase van het nieuwbouwproject Wormervelden omvat 35 woningen.
   
   Het plan om hier te bouwen is al ruim 5 jaar oud. Het aanvankelijke plan (Poort van Wormer) omvatte 360 woningen in het gebied tussen Veerdijk, Noordweg en Knollendammerstraat.
   
   Na problemen met procedures en de malaise op de woningmarkt leek het plan kansloos. Volgens Parteon zijn de procedures nu rond “en trekt de markt weer aan”, en “omdat het nieuwe plan echt anders is dan de vorige, kozen we ook voor een nieuwe naam. Wij zetten alle middelen in om de naam Wormervelden en de mooie woningen die we gaan bouwen.”

   Bunnik, 30 april 2015 - BAM International bv, de werkmaatschappij van Koninklijke BAM Groep
   die buiten Europa bouwprojecten uitvoert, heeft een grote overslagsteiger opgeleverd in Australië.
   De steiger, gebouwd in combinatie met het Australische ingenieurs- en bouwbedrijf Clough Ltd, maakt deel uit van het Ichthys LNG-project, dat in Darwin wordt ontwikkeld door INPEX (operator) en Total.
   Het ontwerp is in opdracht van BAM Clough verzorgd door BAM’s waterbouwkundig ontwerpbureau BAM Infraconsult.
   
   De steiger bestaat uit twee gescheiden afmeerlocaties, een voor LNG-tankers en een tweede voor LPG/condensaat-tankers. De 680 meter lange arm voor de LNG-afmeerlocatie en de 630 meter lange arm voor de LPG/condensaat-afmeerlocatie zijn als een Y-vormige steiger verbonden met de productiefaciliteiten op het vasteland.
   
   BAM Clough leverde vorig jaar al het overslagplatform op, dat wordt gebruikt om grote modules te lossen waarmee de Ichthys LNG-fabriek wordt opgebouwd.
   
   BAM Clough is een 50/50 joint venture van BAM International en Clough Ltd. De joint venture is opgericht in 1964 en kan terugkijken op ruim vijftig jaar succesvolle samenwerking. BAM Clough heeft vijftien grote steiger- waterbouwkundige projecten gerealiseerd in Australië en Papoea-Nieuw-Guinea. Momenteel werkt de bouwcombinatie aan de aanleg van de Chevron Wheatstone LNG-steiger.
   
   Opdrachtgever JKC Australia LNG Pty Ltd (JKC) is een samenwerkingsverband tussen JGC Corporation, KBR en Chiyoda Corporation.

   Kier and BAM Construction have secured places for the first time on the largest schools and public works framework in Wales.
   
   The framework, which will run for four years, came up for renewal this year and sees Carillion bow out from the previous line-up of firms.
   
   Its scope and reach has been expanded regionally to now include work programmes for over 20 councils and public bodies in Wales.
   
   The framework agreement is now formerly known as the South and Mid Wales Collaborative Construction Framework – SEWSCAP 2 and will run until March 2019.
   
   This time around all successful firms will be expected to sign up to the Fair Payment Charter, Targeted Recruitment and Training Charter, complete the Community Benefits Measuring tool for each and every completed project and complete appropriate KPIs.
   
   Project bank accounts will also be used on some or all lots.
   
   It has been broken up into six lots covering a range of work packages with ISG also appearing for the first time on several large project lots. Also Willmott Dixon and Dawnus have extended their reach to major work packages.

   Camberley, 29 May 2015 - BAM Nuttall is pleased to announce the recent project award by the Royal Mail Group to undertake the remediation of its former mail centre site at Nine Elms in South London. The site has been used by Royal Mail since the 1970’s and prior to that the 4.2ha site was part of the Nine Elms Gas Works, which was built in the latter part of the 19th century.
   
   Work will commence in June to start regenerating the area by carrying out site clearance, demolition, utility diversions, bulk earthworks, and remediation including onsite soil and water treatment. The site, which is currently being marketed by Royal Mail, will be prepared for the proposed development of up to 1870 residential units, a new primary school and over 6 acres of public space. Royal Mail secured planning permission from Wandsworth Council in March 2012 for this scheme.
   
   This exciting project is a notable addition to BAM Nuttall’s portfolio of works in the urban regeneration sector, which has seen significant projects undertaken at Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park and Kings Cross. These projects have transformed these brownfield sites in London and prepared them for future use for the benefit of local communities.

   The University of Glasgow has named its project team after submitting plans to build a pioneering new medical research facility at the South Glasgow Hospitals Campus.
   
   BAM Construction is on board as part of the project team to deliver the £64m Stratified Medicine Imaging Centre of Excellence at the site of the former clinical building called ‘The Roundhouse’.
   
   The new building plan, codenamed Project ICE, will house the UK’s first 7 Tesla clinical MRI scanner, together with supporting research facilities bringing together clinical and academic experts in dementia and brain imaging.
   
   The scanner will offer researchers the opportunity to learn more about a host of brain conditions such as stroke, dementia, brain tumours, Parkinson’s, epilepsy and multiple sclerosis.
   
   Demolition of the site is expected to take place this summer with construction hoped to start on the 5-storey building in the autumn.

    AMSTERDAM (Dow Jones)--Koninklijke BAM Groep nv (BAMNB.AE) heeft in Belgie twee contracten ontvangen met een gezamenlijke waarde van circa EUR50 miljoen, meldt het concern woensdag.
    
    De opdracht betreft de ruwbouw van een ziekenhuis in Luik en de tweede fase aanleg van een rondweg bij Couvin.
    
    De ruwbouw van het ziekenhuis in Luik wordt uitgevoerd door Galere, de Belgische werkmaatschappij van BAM. Met de opdracht is een bedrag gemoeid van EUR50 miljoen, waarvan circa EUR16 miljoen voor Galere.
    
    Ten zuiden van Charleroi is Galere samen met BAM Contractors nv, de Belgische infrabouwer van BAM, en Wanty verantwoordelijk voor de tweede fase van de rondweg om Couvin. "De opdrachtsom bedraagt ongeveer EUR50 miljoen, waarvan EUR34 miljoen voor BAM, aldus het concern.

    AMSTERDAM (Dow Jones)---BAM International, de werkmaatschappij van Koninklijke BAM Groep nv (BAMNB.AE) buiten Europa, heeft van Amcor de opdracht gekregen voor de bouw van een verpakkingsfabriek in Pasuruan op Oost-Java, aldus het concern donderdag in een persbericht.
    De waarde van het contract bedraagt $7,2 miljoen, ofwel EUR6,5 miljoen. De oplevering van het project staat gepland voor maart 2016.
    Omstreeks 11.40 uur noteert het aandeel 0,3% lager op EUR3,62.

    Construction of Phase 2A of the new container terminal for APM Terminals in Moín, Costa Rica. The consortium Van Oord/BAM International is responsible for the construction of the new terminal and marine access.
    
    The scope of work for Van Oord consists of the construction of a 1.5-km rock breakwater, reclamation of an area of 40 hectares, including soil improvement works, and the dredging of the access channel and turning basin. BAM International will construct the 650-metre quay wall, as well as the pavement, associated buildings and all utilities.
    
    It will take the consortium approximately three years to complete the project.

    Three consortia have been shortlisted to go to the next stage of the tender process to design and construct the $2 billion Forrestfield-Airport Link.
    
    They are:
    • JHL JV (John Holland and Leighton Contractors)
    • SI-NRW JV (Salini Impregilo and NRW)
    • Forrestfield Connect (ACCIONA Infrastructure, BAM International and Ferrovial Agroman).
    
    These consortia will now be invited to respond to a Request for Proposal (RFP) for the project.
    
    Transport Minister Dean Nalder said the Public Transport Authority (PTA) evaluated five proposals.
    
    "The level of interest in designing and constructing this transformational rail line to Perth's foothills via the Perth Airport has been high," Mr Nalder said.
    
    "The five proposals that were submitted were from leading national and international contractors, but only a maximum of three respondents can progress to the next stage."
    
    The PTA will now issue a formal RFP to the three short-listed proponents to develop fully costed proposals.
    
    The 8.5 kilometre rail extension branches off the Midland Line, just east of Bayswater Station. It will feature three stations, Airport West, Consolidated Airport and Forrestfield.
    
    A contract will be awarded to the successful bidder in mid-2016 with detailed design to begin soon after and construction starting in late 2016.
    
    The first train will operate along the line in 2020.

    Construction and engineering group BAM has as expected won a State contract to build a number of courthouses in the State and refurbish several others.
    
    BAM, which is the Irish subsidiary of multinational Royal Dutch BAM, was confirmed as the preferred bidder for the contract on Monday.
    
    Three divisions of the group joined forces under the flag of BAM PPP PGGM to bid for the work.
    
    The group was competing with three others: a consortium made up of PJ Hegarty and G4S; another from multinational Carillion; and a fourth from John Sisk & Son and Sodexo Ireland, which was backed by Australian bank, Macquarie.
    
    The contract is to develop four new courthouse buildings in Drogheda, Letterkenny, Limerick and Wexford, as well as refurbishing four others in Cork, Mullingar, Waterford and Wexford.
    
    Construction is expected to commence in November with final delivery due by November 2017.
    
    The €135 million project is a public private partnership (PPP), which forms part of the Government’s €2.25 billion Infrastructure Stimulus Programme announced in 2012.
    
    The National Development Finance Agency (NDFA), part of the National Treasury Management Agency and the procuring body and financial advisor to the Courts Service, said the upgrade to the new facilities should lead to a reduction in waiting times and litigation costs.

    Combinatie A1|28 wint aanbesteding Rijkswaterstaat voor Knooppunt Hoevelaken; Aanbesteding zorgt voor maximale invulling van wensen
    (Persbericht Rijkswaterstaat:) Utrecht, 15 juni 2015 - Rijkswaterstaat heeft project Knooppunt Hoevelaken gegund aan Combinatie A1|28. De Combinatie A1|28 bestaat uit ondernemingen BAM en Van Oord, met consultancy- en ontwerpbureau ARCADIS als samenwerkingspartner.
    
    Met deze gunning wordt er een betere doorstroming van het verkeer rondom knooppunt Hoevelaken en aangrenzende wegen, gerealiseerd. Ook verbetert de bereikbaarheid en leefbaarheid door de goede inpassing in het landschap. Naast het eisenpakket worden de wensen, die zijn geformuleerd door alle overheden, bewoners en belangengroepen, maximaal vervuld. Deze wensen zijn door een unieke samenwerking tussen Rijk en regio tot stand gekomen. Daarbij heeft de regio ook financieel bijgedragen. Deze zomer maakt Combinatie A1|28 het aanbestedingsontwerp openbaar en worden de omwonenden geïnformeerd.
    
    Bijzondere contractvorm
    Rijkswaterstaat heeft bij de aanbesteding gekozen voor een bijzondere contractvorm (Plan, Design & Construct) waarbij Combinatie A1|28 zowel de planuitwerking als de realisatie van het knooppunt voor haar rekening neemt. De gecombineerde ervaring en expertise met de planuitwerking, het ontwerp en de uitvoering is op deze manier al meegenomen in de aanbieding. BAM, Van Oord en ARCADIS zijn er in geslaagd om voor het beschikbare budget zoveel mogelijk wensen uit te voeren, de hinder tijdens de werkzaamheden te minimaliseren en goed te scoren op duurzaamheid. Ook is er een goed proces voorgesteld voor de integrale aanpak van planuitwerking en realisatie. De creativiteit van de combinatie is door deze contractvorm maximaal benut.
    
    Belangrijke ingevulde Rijkswensen zijn extra parkeercapaciteit voor vrachtverkeer, extra parkeercapaciteit voor personenauto’s, rechtstreekse verbinding in knooppunt Hoevelaken en meer vluchtstroken. De regionale wensen betreffen onder andere het herstel van een volledige aansluiting Hoevelaken, verbeteringen op het onderliggend wegennet en de invulling van de volledige geluidwens van Nijkerk. Hiermee voldoet de Combinatie A1|28 aan de eis om evenredig veel wensen van de regio ten opzichte van de Rijkswensen in te vullen.
    
    Project knooppunt Hoevelaken samen met de regio
    Voor knooppunt Hoevelaken staan dagelijks files. Rijkswaterstaat geeft daarom in samenwerking met de regio de opdracht om dit knooppunt te verbeteren. De A1 tussen Bunschoten en Barneveld, en de A28 tussen Nijkerk en Leusden worden verbreed. Ook het knooppunt zelf wordt aangepast.
    
    In project knooppunt Hoevelaken werken het Ministerie van Infrastructuur en Milieu, de provincies Utrecht en Gelderland, de gemeenten Amersfoort, Nijkerk, Leusden, Bunschoten, Barneveld en het Waterschap Vallei en Veluwe samen met Rijkswaterstaat.
    
    Planning
    Eind 2017 worden het Ontwerp Tracé Besluit (OTB) en de Milieu Effect Rapportage (MER) verwacht. In 2018 het definitieve Tracébesluit (TB). De daadwerkelijke werkzaamheden starten als dit TB er ligt. Dan is er ook meer bekend over de exacte planning van de werkzaamheden. Naar verwachting is het project tussen 2022 - 2024 gereed.
