   Ik heb mijn grondstoffen portef. uitgebreid met Talga Group. Heb vertrouwen in deze Zweeds, Duitse en Austral. samenwerking rondom bewezen gevonden grafiet in zweden en anode productie lokaal in Europa (Duitsland oa). Europa wil eigen batterijen en die gaan ze krijgen.
   
   Ga vanmiddag kopen ook Century Alu. Produceren zuiver aluminium, hebben ook anode producent in NL overigens. Koers al behoorlijk opgelopen maar ik zie nog veel upside. Alu gewild metaal en met de geopolitieke ontwikkeling kan de vraag niet anders dan toenemen.
   
   Horizonte zie ik ook wat in maar dan moet je in een keer 3500 op de Britse beurs via Saxo betalen, en dat wordt me te gortig als een aanloop op een aandeel.
   
   Ik ben klaar met alloceren beleggingen. Ik heb nu een beginnende mineralen portef. voor de komende 10 jaar. Krijg het weer druk met andere zaken. Ik spreek jullie mineralen-liefhebbers later! We gaan het zien of het verstandig was. Ik heb er wel enig vertrouwen in.

   Ik houd om die reden een account bij MEXEM aan. Saxo is eigenlijk een dure broker en biedt niet alles aan. Mexem is goedkoper en je kan er ook de kleinere aandelen kopen.

   Ook al zou die oorlog binnen een paar weken stoppen dan nog zijn de relaties Westen + Japan / Australië - Rusland voor langere tijd verstierd. Het Russische regiem is zo ver van het padje geraakt en de misdaden zo gruwelijk & extreem dat ik bijna zeker weet dat Rusland voor jaren in isolatie wordt gezet - totdat er een soort van tekening van een regiem-verandering ontstaat. Daarom spreek ik ook van transitie: de wereld is voorgoed veranderd sinds de oorlog, en er is een nieuw ijzeren gordijn - nu op de (nieuwe) grenzen van Rusland. Gechargeerd gezegd: Rusland wordt een soort Noord-Korea voor het Westen.
   
   Dit heeft dus niets met een glazen bol te maken maar gewoon zien hoe de geopolitiek en internationale betrekkingen zich nu aan het ontwikkelen zijn.

   Kansen
   Door oorlog wordt Rusland langdurig in isolatie geplaatst. Grondstoffen als gas, olie, titaan, alu, nikkel, palladium zullen dan elders vandaan worden gehaald.
   
   Door geleidelijke stopzetting Russisch gas zal de energietransitie een versnelling krijgen. Daardoor zal er versneld behoefte zijn aan diverse mineralen vooral de kritische. Dat geldt uiteraard het sterkst voor de USA die als grootmacht niet afhankelijk wil zijn van (regionale) andere grootmachten.
   
   Bedreigingen
   Door de oorlog en inflatie komen we in recessie. Daardoor minder economische activiteit.
   
   Als er echt 2 langs elkaar opererende machtsblokken ontstaan, namelijk Westen en Oosten (Rusland en China) komt de wereld echt in een diepe diepe recessie omdat alles dan opnieuw ontwikkeld moet worden.
   
   Daarom ook zeer interessant wat China gaat doen, vooral in Taiwan...

   Discovery of a High-Grade Nickel & Palladium Ore Body

   MONTREAL, QC / ACCESSWIRE / April 11, 2022 /St-Georges Eco-Mining Corp. (CSE:SX)(OTCQB:SXOOF)(FSE:85G1) is pleased to disclose additional partial results alongside historical results related to the resampling and analysis of the cores related to the drilling effort predating the 2021 campaign of the Company of its 100% owned Manicouagan Project.
   
   The drill cores assays contain results up to 2.11 g/t of platinum, up to 7.88 g/t of palladium, up to1.73 g/t rhodium, up to 2.63 g/t ruthenium, up to 2.2% copper and up to 9.49% nickel.
   
   The Company has not previously released all of these results. Since recovering virtually all of the core from the camp site, the Company has initiated a program of re-logging and sampling portions of the core not previously sampled while leaving intact portions that were historically sampled.
   
   The Company's geologists feel that the availability of the assays has been significantly confirmed by hole 21-18 partial results thus far. See March 24, 2022 Press Release titled "Discovery of High-Grade Nickel & Palladium Large Corridor Confirmed" www.thecse.com/en/trading/market-acti...
   
   This and previous work have provided evidence for the identification of a new discovery referred to as the Bob Zone carrying high-grade mineralization that has dimensions of 180 meters in length in an east-west trend and at least 80 meters in depth based on drill intercepts.
   
   The mineralization is open-ended to depth and along strike.
   
   Additionally, two widely spaced holes with similar mineralogy are located 1.34 km to the northeast (hole 07-09) and 2.8 km to the east (hole 07-32) with no nearby drill holes. Although there are wide spaced holes drilled between the Bob Showing and the above-mentioned holes that contain little or no values, the complex structural regime and our increased knowledge of the area allow us to identify a 3 km corridor carrying high-grade palladium & nickel, still to be assayed for rhodium, that offers a similar mineralization signature to the Bob Zone discovery while being along strike. This corridor is highly prospective, and the Company intends to prioritize this zone to investigate continuity or the presence of multiple mineralized lens.

    Behalve aan REE dreigen er ook tekorten aan zogenaamde strategische metalen als lithium, kobalt, tungsten, mangaan, grafiet, vanadium en molybdeen.
    
    Daarbij staan de ambitieuze plannen van de westerse landen voor een lagere koolstofuitstoot in scherp contrast met hun gebrek aan bereidheid om vergunningen af te leveren voor mijnbouwprojecten.
    
    Zo werd in Servië het Jadar-lithiumproject in een van de laatste fases van het vergunningsproces nog afgeschoten. De bestaande licenties werden ingetrokken, hoewel mijnbouwer Rio Tinto al $2,4 miljard in het project had geïnvesteerd. Jadar zou in 10% van Europa’s lithiumbehoefte kunnen voorzien. De prijs van lithiumcarbonaat is de voorbije twaalf maanden verzesvoudigd, wat de kostprijs voor batterijen sterk de hoogte injaagt.
    
    NIMBY
    
    Alles en iedereen moet verplicht ‘vergroenen’ maar de grondstoffen om dit doel te bereiken wil niemand ontginnen. Het westerse ‘not in my backyard’-fenomeen (NIMBY) maakt dat de noodzakelijke grondstoffen dus van elders in de wereld moeten komen.
    
    Dit maakt dat de kritiek op kinderarbeid (Democratische Republiek Congo) en vervuiling en mensenrechten (China) wel erg hol en hypocriet klinkt.
    
    Er ligt op korte termijn geen verbetering in het verschiet. Regeringen zetten in op betere samenwerking met grondstoffenlanden als Australië en Canada en meer recyclage, maar dat volstaat niet om de afhankelijkheid van regimes die het westen niet altijd gunstig gezind zijn te verminderen. Dit werkt hoge prijzen in de hand.

    The ASX is home to a number of lithium companies, ranging from multi-billion businesses to small-time players
    Rio Tinto takes the top spot as the largest company involved in lithium operations, holding a market capitalisation of $44.46 billion
    Coming in second and third place is Mineral Resources and Pilbara Minerals, worth $11.62 billion and $8.48 billion, respectively
    A number of ASX-listed lithium players have powered ahead in recent times. This comes as investors have been taking advantage of the hype surrounding the lithium revolution.
    
    Indeed, a lot of attention has been turned to the incredible rise in the spot price for lithium.
    
    Over the past year alone, lithium carbonate has rocketed by more than 435% in value.
    
    The battery making ingredient is expected to be adopted across a number of industries, notably the transitioning to electric vehicles.
    
    Lithium is mainly sourced from either spodumene or brine. Australia is home to the majority of the hard rock (spodumene) mines, while brine production is concentrated mainly in South America, particularly Chile and Argentina.
    
    Below, we take a look at which are the top 10 lithium companies on the ASX by market capitalisation.
    
    Who are the ASX’s biggest lithium companies?
    
    According to the ASX, Australia’s largest company that’s involved in the lithium space is Rio Tinto Limited (ASX: RIO).
    
    The mining giant boasts a market capitalisation of $44.46 billion and is one of the biggest companies on the ASX.
    
    Next up, is none other than Mineral Resources Limited (ASX: MIN). The company had an offer price of just 90 cents per share when it floated in 2006. Since then, it has surged to $61.48 at the time of writing, representing an astonishing gain of 5,800%.
    
    Mineral Resources commands a market capitalisation of around $11.62 billion.
    
    Third on the list is Pilbara Minerals Ltd (ASX: PLS) which is valued at $8.48 billion.
    
    As you can see, the top two spots are taken up by companies that are predominately involved with the mining and export of iron ore. Pilbara Minerals on the other hand is the leading ASX-listed pure-play lithium company. It owns 100% of the world’s largest, independent hard-rock lithium operation in the resource-rich Pilbara region.
    
    The following three places on the biggest mining companies list are taken up by Allkem Ltd (ASX: AKE), AVZ Minerals Ltd (ASX: AVZ), and Liontown Resources Ltd (ASX: LTR).
    
    They preside a market capitalisation of $8.48 billion, $4.27 billion, and $3.68 billion, respectively.
    
    The last four spots are covered by Lake Resources N.L. (ASX: LKE), Sayona Mining Ltd (ASX: SYA), Core Lithium Ltd (ASX: CXO), and De Grey Mining Limited (ASX: DEG).
    
    The above companies have a market capitalisation of $2.88 billion, $2.76 billion, $2.56 billion, and $1.92 billion, respectively.
    
    Foolish takeaway
    
    In summary, selecting 9 out of 10 of these companies from 12 months ago would have increased your wealth.
    
    Depending on which company you bought into, you could have achieved a gain of up to 800% on your investment. The latter is based on buying Sayona Mining shares which has been the best lithium company amongst the list.
    
    The only company to produce a negative return is Rio Tinto, down 0.3% from this time last year. However, when factoring in the dividend, you would be slightly ahead.

    Interest in battery electric vehicles is growing rapidly. In 2021, electric cars account for only 4 percent of the global passenger vehicle sales. By 2030, this figure is expected to rise to over 30 percent. However, such a strong increase in demand will create new risks for the lithium-ion battery supply chain, particularly around the availability of raw materials. In the new publication “The lithium-ion EV battery market and supply chain”, Roland Berger analyzes these challenges and shows how companies can overcome them. Roland Berger Partner Mr Wolfgang Bernhart said “The battery pack is a key component of electric mobility. The cost depends on the precise cell technology used, where the battery is produced and to a very large extent on the price of the raw materials. Increased raw material costs have already made electric car batteries massively more expensive to produce in recent months. The war in Ukraine is exacerbating things even further. While this will not halt the trend towards electric vehicles, it may slow it down.”
    
    The global lithium-ion battery market is expected to show an annual growth of 30 percent through to 2030. The increase in production will significantly add to the strain on the battery supply chain. Most critical is the dependency on certain raw and refined materials such as cobalt and nickel sulphates as well as lithium. These materials account for more than 30 percent of the cell costs, with cells in turn making up about 75 percent of the total cost of the battery pack.
    
    In this publication, Roland Berger experts identify four main areas of supply chain risks:
    
    Geopolitical factors: The extraction and processing of crucial resources like lithium is concentrated in a small number of countries. About one-tenth of all nickel comes from Russia – thus leading to massive price reactions on the commodity markets with the beginning of the war in Ukraine.
    
    ESG: Battery manufacturing has a significant environmental and social impact. Lithium extraction uses high quantities of water and some production processes emit large amounts of CO2.
    
    Price: Next to the fluctuating raw material prices, the costs of the additional production capacities in the “mine to cell” value chain must also be considered. Capital expenditure of EUR 250-300 billion over the next eight years is forecast, a third of which will go towards meeting European demand.
    
    Supply: The availability of certain materials will become critical. Shortages of both a temporary and a long-term nature are expected for nickel and cobalt or their sulphates, and for lithium in particular.
    
    Countering shortages with recycling, regionalization and vertical integration of raw material supply
    
    Avoiding these shortfalls will require changes throughout the entire battery supply chain. On a production level, an integrated approach between metallurgy and chemistry will help reduce costs. Greater regionalization and co-location of multiple steps in battery manufacturing can also mitigate geopolitical and ESG risks. Recycling, too, will take on an increasingly important role from the end of the decade onward.
    
    As regulatory requirements evolve, companies throughout the value chain will find themselves more and more obligated to implement a circular battery economy. The potentially recoverable materials from batteries will be vital in ensuring that supply can meet the rising demand.

    Mexico wil de exploitatie van zijn lithiumreserves nationaliseren. Dat blijkt uit een stemming in het Lagerhuis van het Mexicaanse Congres. Daarmee gaat het Mexicaanse parlement mee met het streven van president Andrés Manuel López Obrador, die de controle over de grondstof aan een nieuw staatsbedrijf wil toevertrouwen. Mexico kan een van de belangrijkste leveranciers van lithium in de hele wereld worden.
    
    Het initiatief kaderde in een voorstel van president Obrador om de controle van de overheid op de energieproductie van het land te versterken.

    Een nieuwe wet diende er immers voor te zorgen dat het staatsbedrijf Comisión Federal de Electricidad (CFE) op de nationale elektriciteitsmarkt een aandeel van minstens 54 procent zou worden gegarandeerd. Dat voorstel werd door het Mexicaanse Lagerhuis echter weggestemd.
    
    Wel gingen de parlementsleden akkoord met een voorstel van Obrador om ook voor de productie van lithium een staatsbedrijf op te richten. Die onderneming zou het alleenrecht op de productie en de verkoop van het product, een cruciale grondstof voor de bevoorrading van batterijen van elektrische wagens, krijgen.
    
    Indien de wet daadwerkelijk wordt geïntroduceerd, zou Obrador alle bestaande vergunningen voor de ontginning van lithium opnieuw willen herbekijken en wellicht intrekken. Het nieuwe voorstel, dat nu aan de Senaat wordt voorgelegd, zou elke particuliere deelname aan de exploratie en ontginning van lithium uitsluiten. Daardoor zou lithium in Mexico de status van een strategisch mineraal verwerven.
    
    Handelsbetrekkingen
    Het voorstel heeft echter al tot grote bezorgdheid geleid bij een aantal bedrijven die in Mexico al een concessie voor de exploratie van lithium hadden verworven. Een van die groepen is Bacanora Lithium, dat in het noordwesten van het land de ontginning van lithium voorbereidt.
    
    Het bedrijf, in handen van de Chinese groep Genfeng Lithium, is de drijvende kracht achter het grote project Sonora, dat naar verwachting jaarlijks 35.000 ton lithium zou moeten produceren. Bacanora had plannen om volgend jaar met zijn activiteiten van start te gaan.
    
    Een aantal waarnemers wijzen ook op mogelijke problemen op het gebied van internationale handelsbetrekkingen. Het voorstel van Obrador zou immers indruisen tegen de inhoud van de United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA), die de handelsbetrekkingen tussen de drie betrokken landen regelt.
    
    De waarnemers wijzen erop dat bij de ondertekening van dat akkoord lithium niet als een strategisch mineraal, zoals bij een aantal radioactieve mineralen wel het geval was, werd gemeld.
    
    Het grootste deel van de actuele lithiumproductie is vastgelegd in leveringsovereenkomsten op lange termijn. Klanten, waaronder fabrikanten van batterijen en elektrische wagens, proberen immers met die contracten hun toekomstige bevoorrading veilig te stellen.
    
    Uit gegevens van de US Geological Survey blijkt dat Mexico bij de grootste producenten van lithium in de wereld zou moeten worden gerekend. Bolivia staat in die ranglijst met een reserve van 21 miljoen ton op de eerste plaats, gevolgd door Argentinië (19 miljoen ton) en Chili (9,8 miljoen). Mexico zou over een reserve van 1,7 miljoen ton beschikken.

    Refinery Construction Update
    
    Electra has commitments in place for 52% of the US$67 million capital budget, inclusive of amounts spent to date. The Company expects to approach a 70% commitment level within the next month, with the overall project currently on budget.
    
    Construction activity at the Refinery continues on schedule. COVID-19 restrictions in certain parts of the world as well as recent global geopolitical events are putting pressure on supply chains and development projects. Electra is closely monitoring and managing these risks with its equipment and services suppliers and thus far the project remains on schedule for commencement of commissioning late this year.
    
    Footings and foundations for the solvent extraction building were recently completed, and preparations are underway for the support of SX tanks and steel structures. The first SX modules will arrive on site in the coming weeks.
    
    A contract for an overland piping package to access raw water was recently awarded to Pedersen Construction based on a competitive bid process. The 2.8-kilometer buried pipeline will feed water to the refinery from an existing pumphouse located at Lake Temiskaming. The pipeline will be installed over the coming months.
    
    Battery Recycling
    
    Prior to commissioning its cobalt sulfate refinery, Electra intends to complete a bulk sample processing of litium-ion battery “black mass” in Q3, leveraging existing refinery infrastructure. Ancillary long lead items required for this recycling demonstration plant have been ordered.
    
    The objective is to demonstrate the effectiveness of its process flowsheet to recover the majority of lithium, nickel, cobalt, copper and graphite content from lithium batteries prior to construction of its commercial plant in 2023. Electra’s process for treating black mass has been developed internally with a highly experienced team. An offtake agreement for nickel and cobalt produced from the recycling circuit has been signed with Glencore AG for 2023-2024. Offtake discussions are underway with various parties for lithium, copper and graphite production.
