    Central Banks Offer Extra Funds to Calm Money Markets (Update5)

    Sept. 18 (Bloomberg) -- The Federal Reserve almost quadrupled the amount of dollars central banks can auction around the world to $247 billion in a coordinated bid to ease the worst crisis facing financial markets since the 1920s.

    The Fed increased the amount of dollars that the European Central Bank, the Bank of Japan and other counterparts can offer from $67 billion ``to address the continued elevated pressures in U.S. dollar short-term funding markets.'' The Bank of England, the Bank of Canada and the Swiss National Bank also participated.

    het lijkt wel dat het geld never op gaat bij de Amerikaanse staat...

    ik vraag me af of dit goed af kunt lopen... schulden stapelen zich op bij de Amerikaanse Staat...

    voorlopig hebben we een herstelletje vandaag, of het slechts een technisch herstel of dat we de bodem bereikt heeft... ik weet het niet...

    Mensen als het bod deze week niet komt dan moet er eindelijk eens schoon schip gemaakt worden en die handelaar in het gevang geflikkert worden vind ik,of was er helemaal geen ""handelaaar uit londen"" en is alles gewoon nep ? wat een ratjes als dat zo is.

    The Greatest Government Lie Ever Told

    It is beyond tolerance to listen to our leaders whether they be financial, corporate, or the worst of all - congressional liars. They zap my energy, stress me out in bewilderment how so many people in so many leadership positions can be so crooked and mealy-mouthed. The latest is Pelosi's call for an "investigation" into our financial quagmire. Nancy, you and your party have been the majority in congress long enough to launch any look-sees ages ago. Puleez, don't pretend your committee chairmen like Barney Frank and Senator Chris Dodd don't have any culpability. Nancy: they are the OVERSIGHT! It's been their job right along to safeguard the people. Just go away.

    Simmering for a very long time has been my reluctance to even think my government would be dishonest about something as vital as our national treasure upon which rests our honor, and the trust of the world.



    As an ex-Coast Guard storekeeper I knew full well that when a new commanding officer came aboard, he'd want inventories. For me it was easy, ships stores, commissary, dry goods, stuff like that. But from Operations and Engineering he'd want to know the exact numbers of the high value electronic items used in navigation, fire control, communications. As the new CO he was now accountable for any absent items. His career depended on it. The system worked.

    This service experience and other life work experiences have had me bamboozled why other elements and people whom I am taxed to pay salaries don't reciprocate with the same accountability.

    Consequently, I have now concluded our country's treasury no longer has any gold reserves. The gold our ancestors entrusted to government for safeguarding is gone. And been gone for quite awhile. Yes, we're given paper "audits" all neatly officially bundled for our consumption. But, no commanding officer has ever demanded a physical inventory. Why not, isn't the President captain of his own ship? Congress has been rebuffed on numerous occasions when requesting a physical audit. The Treasury balance sheet lists something like 261 million ounces. Oh yeah? Show us. Let others accept the "trust me" argument, but as for me that's a worn out response.

    Even worse, this gold has been jettisoned off by lease, swaps, or loaned. In all of the instances our gold will never be returned. It's gone, and the American people are the poorer, and must rebuild their lives and their country from scratch.

    The bankers have moved on to more fertile ground for they are international bankers with allegiance to no sovereign.

    For a patriotic, moral, and gracious people I can think of no greater lie ever being told.
