    Zeewolde, The Netherlands, 27 September 2010. Spyker Cars N.V. ("the Group"), a holding company that owns subsidiaries which produce and sell premium automobiles under the Saab and Spyker brands, has noted recent press speculation about the possible supply relationship with BMW. The Group confirms that talks are ongoing and will give further details once a final agreement has been reached.

    Hoop dat iedereen op tijd zijn winst heeft genomen. Dit slaat nergens op natuurlijk, iedereen rent achter elkaar aan omhoog..maar straks ook omlaag

    BMW, Saab said to agree on engine-purchasing deal

    Saab and BMW AG have agreed on a deal that allows the Swedish carmaker to use engines made by BMW, according to a person with direct knowledge of the matter.

    Saab will initially purchase BMW engines for the 9-3 model that is scheduled for release in late 2012, said the person, who asked not to be identified before a contract is signed. The carmakers plan to sign and announce the pact in Trollhaettan, Sweden, on Wednesday, the person said.

    The automakers are also in talks about Saab buying diesel engines from BMW, as well as using BMW's Mini Countryman platform for its smaller 9-2 model, the person said.

    Saab said it will make an announcement on Wednesday and will hold a press conference in Sweden at 11:15 CET.

    A BMW spokesman said: "We are in talks with other manufacturers every now and then about a number of topics, on which we currently cannot provide any details. On Wednesday Saab is organizing a conference in Sweden. We can only refer you to that conference."

    Saab Chairman Victor Muller has said he would like the company to build a 9-2 model, which Saab aims to release by 2014, inspired by the tear-drop shaped Saab 92 model that was in production between 1949 and 1956.

    Muller has said he needs an industrial partner or another investor to help fund development. On Monday, Muller would not comment on reports of the BMW tie-up.

    Muller's Dutch-based luxury car maker Spyker bought Saab from General Motors Co. earlier this year. Reviving the Saab model lineup is key to Muller's $1 billion recovery plan for Saab.

    Saab's upgraded 9-3 model will be the first one designed by Jason Castriota, the U.S. designer known for creating the Ferrari P4/5 and Maserati GranTurismo.

    Saab has said it aims to sell 60,000 to 70,000 of the new 9-3 annually, out of total sales of 120,000 cars, by 2012.

    BMW CEO Norbert Reithofer has been looking for opportunities to sell components to other manufacturers to boost revenue. BMW agreed in March to supply more than 240,000 six- cylinder diesel engines, cooling systems, and transmissions to Carbon Motors Corp., which is developing a police car for U.S. law enforcement agencies. BMW also supplies engines to exotic car manufacturer Wiessmann GmbH.

    Ik kan er met mijn verstand ook niet helemaal bij. Uiteraard is het goed nieuws dat Saab zaken mag gaan kopen van BMW. Maar zolang nog niet zeker is wat deze precies inhoudt is het wel een beetje overdreven in mijn ogen dat de koerst met ruim 50% omhoog knalt.

    Uiteraard kan je stellen dat het aandeel ondergewaardeerd is geweest en dat dit aan zou tonen dat BMW blijkbaar vertrouwen heeft in de toekomst van Saab

    Jullie moeten niet vergeten dat de eventuele resultaten van een samenwerking tussen BMW en Saab pas (op zijn vroegst) in 2012 (Saab 9-3) of 2014 (Saab 92) merkbaar zullen zijn.

    In de tussentijd moet Saab het doen met de modellen die ze nu hebben.

    Shell start begin 2011 aanleg Pearl GTL project in Qatar


    DOHA (Zawya Dow Jones)--Royal Dutch Shell plc (RDSA) maakt in het eerste kwartaal van 2011 een begin met het $18 miljard kostende Pearl gas-to-liquids, ofwel GTL, project in Qatar dat in de eerste helft van 2012 volledig operationeel moet zijn, zegt een bestuurder van het olieconcern maandag.

    "We zullen de bouw van de eerste fase aan het eind van het jaar afronden, waarop de eerste trein kan gaan rijden", aldus Krey Stirland, commercieel manager van Shell in Qatar, tijdens een congres in Qatars hoofdstad Doha.

    Als het GTL-project volledig operationeel is zal het zo'n 140.000 vaten per dag aan GTL-producten als naptha, kerosine en paraffine kunnen leveren.

    Saab will initially purchase BMW engines for the 9-3 model that is scheduled for release in late 2012, said the person, who asked not to be identified before a contract is signed. The carmakers plan to announce the pact in Trollhaettan, Sweden, on Sept. 29, before the Paris Motor Show, the person said.

    Spyker Cars NV, which bought Saab from General Motors Co. in February, jumped as much as 39 percent, the most in eight months. The shares traded up 37 percent at 3.28 euros as of 12:50 a.m. in Amsterdam trading.

    Spyker “confirms that talks are ongoing and will give further details once a final agreement has been reached,” the Dutch company said today in a statement.

    Joe Oliver, a spokesman for Saab, declined to comment, as did BMW’s Frank Wienstroth.

    The automakers are also in talks about Saab buying diesel engines from Munich-based BMW, as well as using BMW’s Mini Countryman platform for its smaller 9-2 model, the person said.

    BMW Chief Executive Officer Norbert Reithofer has been looking for opportunities to sell components to other manufacturers to boost revenue. BMW, the world’s largest luxury- car maker, agreed in March to supply more than 240,000 six- cylinder diesel engines, cooling systems, and transmissions to Carbon Motors Corp., which is developing a police car for U.S. law enforcement agencies.

    The German automaker also supplies engines to exotic car manufacturer Wiessmann GmbH.

    The engine Saab will buy will be a new 222 horsepower motor that BMW is developing and has yet to put in any of its cars, said the person. While it will first be used in Saab’s new 9-3, the engine may be used in other models, including future versions of Saab’s flagship 9-5 sedan, the person said.

    As part of the deal Saab will also tap into BMW’s Efficient Dynamics program, designed to reduce fuel consumption and increase motor and vehicle efficiency.

    Het heeft voor BMW geen enkele meerwaarde in Saab over te nemen. Ze hebben er voordeel van als Saab (of een andere partij) hun techniek koopt. Bij BMW hebben ze inmiddels wel geleerd van de fouten die ze gemaakt hebben met MG-Rover. Zo'n fout maken ze niet nog een keer.
