Former KPN CEO says failed takeover a 'blessing'

Former KPN CEO Ad Scheepbouwer said it's a "blessing" that the Dutch operator was not acquired by America Movil. In Dutch paper Het Financieele Dagblad, Scheepbouwer said cultural differences were the main obstacle to the deal. He said these were too great, and the Mexican company would not have been sufficiently committed to the Dutch operator from its base in Latin America. He said KPN would be better off continuing alone, supported by the proceeds from selling its German operator E-Plus. In an interview with the paper,
Scheepbouwer also said that navigation devicemaker TomTom is the most innovative company in the Netherlands since the end of World War II. He said the government should do more to stimulate local talent. The Netherlands is currently not ambitious enough, especially in key sectors such as logistics and transport, water and chemicals, according to Scheepbouwer.

Nou die kunnen we in onze zak steken!
Zegt de man die KPN naar de klote heeft geholpen (pardon my french). Gelukkig heeft de CEO van TomTom wel een ziel en hecht veel waarde aan z'n eigen toko.
