    Ripple has been in hot water with the Securities and Exchange Commission and was charged by the regulator in 2020 with selling unregistered securities, which has turned into a lengthy legal battle under the leadership of current SEC chair Gary Gensler. Trump’s pick to head the SEC next year, Paul Atkins, may very well drop the case, although Atkins will need to be approved by the Senate before he can take up the role.

    Ripple’s launch earlier this week of its stablecoin RLUSD could also cement XRP’s role in the financial ecosystem, Lee noted.
