    Heb beide wedstrijden gezien. AS Roma wel terecht door, al mocht het over de arbitrage gisteren niet klagen. Nu maar hopen dat ze zondag winnen in Utrecht en Ajax klop krijgt in Eindhoven.

    ASTM International Standardization News January/February issue 2015: new butanol-standards
    "With several beneficial attributes that make it a good blending agent in gasoline, butanol continues to hold promise for use as a biofuel. It is compatible with existing vehicles and refueling infrastructure. Low vapor pressure, high octane number and favorable distillation properties all add to the high blending value of butanol.

    Now, a new ASTM International standard will be used in isobutanol manufacturing to test its purity for use in the chemical and fuel markets. The new standard is D7875, Test Method for Determination of Butanol and Acetone Content of Butanol for Blending with Gasoline by Gas Chromatography. Isobutanol manufacturers and quality laboratories that work with fuels will be the primary users of D7875.

    “Isobutanol is going into a blend of gasoline for use in automobiles, all terrain vehicles, boats, lawn mowers and snowblowers,” says ASTM member Glenn Johnston, executive vice president, regulatory affairs, Gevo Inc. “It is also being used in many chemical applications that include paints and coatings.”

    D7875 was developed by Subcommittee D02.04.0L on Gas Chromatography Methods, part of ASTM International Committee D02 on Petroleum Products, Liquid Fuels and Lubricants. The new standard is based on an annex that previously appeared in ASTM D7862, Specification for Butanol for Blending with Gasoline for Use as Automotive Spark-Ignition Engine Fuel"

    It is a necessary step before getting approval of this ATJ-SPK blend as aviation kerosene. According to HBBA-report from Lufthansa balloting for approval is expected to take place in the first half of 2015. GEVO has very probably been working hard on that. Decision to be taken by ASTM but "...given the currently available documentation it is expected that initial ASTM approval will only cover ATJ from iso-butanol (the Gevo pathway), and possibly ATJ from butanol on the basis of similarity to the iso-butanol sub-pathway" (p. 35 of the latest Lufthansa HBBA-report). Wondering who will win the PR-race of being the first airline to fly with isobutanol: Lufthansa or Virgin Atlantic? I expect an announcement will be made by either of those shortly after ASTM-approval. These guys don't tend to rush into things but I'm sure they know what this would mean for the future of isobutanol as a fuel blend (and GEVO for that matter). It's in the hands of ASTM now. Less

    en Gevo moet niet gedelist worden over een paar maanden
    Is dat forse belang van Total voldoende om GEVO over een paar maanden over de 5 dollar te krijgen?

    Potentieel genoeg, maar de klok tikt. Ik heb wat winst op Gevo genomen.

    Als er een overeenkomst komt met een bestaande ethanol maker om de faciliteiten per direct om te bouwen naar isobutanol, dan kan het weer hard omhoog.

    Ik geef geen advies koop of verkoop. Wel advies om er scherp op te letten, of je er nou in zit of niet.
