Dear forum reader,
Minutes ago, Gilead and Galapagos issued the press release regarding our FINCH2 Phase3 study in RA patients. We are extremely pleased with the data, because these meet all of our expectations for filgotinib.
You have supported us over the years, so I wanted to reach out to you personally and share the excitement of this moment with you.
The inflammation market is crowded with the biologics and the other JAK’s, so filgotinib needs to differentiate to position it against the competition. We believe that the combination of the efficacy scores and the observed safety profile of our selective JAK1 inhibitor, builds a strong case for this drug.
This dataset is a hallmark for Galapagos, our first Phase 3 results, and a big step in our evolution to become a fully integrated biopharma company. The future looks bright:
• filgotinib is in late stage trials in a large number of inflammatory diseases;
• the ISABELA GLPG1690 registration trial in IPF are about to start;
• first dosing in the ROCELLA GLPG1972 Phase 2b trial in OA any day now; and
• our discovery engine delivering new opportunities, especially our Toledo project in inflammation.
It is great to see the Galapagos firing on all cylinders, and after 20 years we are nearing the ultimate goal of any biotech company: bringing novel drugs to patients.
Best regards,
Onno
