   Zeker niet. Wat dat betreft heb je ook gelijk. We moeten afwachten wat het allemaal gaat worden. Zeker als je kijkt naar de koers. Van 12 naar 6 in een paar weken, is niet niks, en stof om over na te denken. Zeker is het pas, als er een pb komt over iets. We gaan het zien, waar we eind van het jaar staan. Succes!!

   CES 2017: Expect an array of automobile announcements from Nissan, LeEco, Hyundai and Ford
   
   Japanese car maker Nissan, officially announced that Chairman and CEO, Carlos Ghosn will address an opening keynote at the event. While there is no info about what the announcement will be, but we could hear something around its popular electric car Leaf.
   
   Nvidia is also said to make an appearance to make an announcement regarding self-driving cars. If you remember, last January the company unveiled the world’s first supercomputer for self-driving vehicles called DRIVE PX 2. There is a possibility that it will announce a major update or a new version of the supercomputer.

   Fiat Chrysler will start the show with its first-ever press conference at CES. The Italian-American automaker is expected to unveil at least one all-electric vehicle concept as well as showcase its fourth-generation Uconnect infotainment system.
   
   The automaker has not released details of the premiere. However, Bloomberg News last month reported that the vehicle is expected to be based on the Chrysler Pacifica, which Google’s self-driving car project — now known as Waymo — is using to test its autonomous driving technology.
   
   “This year it’s important for Fiat Chrysler to be there because they haven’t demonstrated much, except form their partnership with Waymo, that they are in the autonomous game,” Krebs said.
   
   Ford last week announced it will debut its second-generation of autonomous Ford Fusions in Las Vegas. The automaker recently completed 20 upgraded Ford Fusion Hybrid autonomous development vehicles to add to its fleet of 10 vehicles that debuted in 2013, with plans to add 60 more by the end of 2017.
   
   “It’s been three years since we hit the streets with our first Fusion Hybrid autonomous research vehicle, and this latest version takes everything we learned and builds on it,” reads a blog post from Chris Brewer, Ford’s chief engineer of autonomous-vehicle development, on online publishing website Medium.
   
   General Motors Co. premiered its all-electric Chevrolet Bolt at last year’s show. It will skip Las Vegas this time around.
   
   Toyota Motor Corp. plans to debut a new concept vehicle at the show that it said highlights the importance of the user experience, but declined to release details.
   
   Nissan Motor Co. has been mum on its plans. CEO and Chairman Carlos Ghosn recently said the automaker will have a “substantial presentation.”
   
   Hyundai Motor Co. will demonstrate its autonomous Ioniq sedan concept, which it unexpectedly debuted in November at the Los Angeles Auto Show.
   
   Chinese-backed Faraday Future will debut its first production car in Las Vegas. Last year the California-based electric car startup unveiled the FFZERO1 concept, a futuristic-looking, 1,000-horsepower electric race car, at the show.
   
   Leading auto suppliers in connected and autonomous vehicle such as Delphi Automotive PLC and Continental AG also will show off their latest.

   When Lucid Motors unveiled its first vehicle last month, the company announced that it would feature autonomous technology, but now it clarified that it will follow Tesla’s lead and equip all cars with the necessary hardware to enable self-driving capability and gradually release more advanced driver assist features leading to full autonomy.
   
   The electric car startup confirmed that Mobileye, Tesla former partner for the Autopilot program, will power its autonomous system
   
   Mobileye will also supply Lucid with its REM system, which is intended to provide the vehicle with highly accurate localization capability. While Tesla has profited from driving and map data of its 100,000+ fleet of Autopilot vehicles, a startup can difficultly try to emulate that in the short-term, but Mobileye offers a service to share the data between its programs called “dynamic global Roadbook” for high-definition mapping systems.
   
   It will be useful for companies like Lucid starting out without a fleet to collect data.
   
   Lucid plans to bring to market its Lucid Air in 2018. According to its deal with Mobileye, it will feature advanced autonomous features at launch, but it’s not clear when its software for fully autonomous driving would be available. In other vehicle programs with other automakers, Mobileye has targets closer to 2020.

    Mobileye en HERE verkopen écht géén gebakken lucht, dus het heeft geen zin dat te blijven herhalen. Of hun oplossingen de eindstreep halen blijft natuurlijk de vraag. Video2000 van Philips was beter dan VHS maar heeft het uiteindelijk niet gered (als standaard). Daarom hecht ik er veel waarde aan dat TT betrokken is bij het realiseren van standaarden.

    Kleine nuancering is wellicht op z'n plaats Lucid is start-up in EV en kleine speler dus (nog) geen grote partij die veel indruk maakt.

    TomTom en HERE ondersteunen beiden de NDS-standaard voor maps. Dat is de enige standaard.
    
    Of Mobileye en HERE geen gebakken lucht verkopen valt te bezien. Voorlopig is er niets en is Mobileye er door Tesla uitgegooid. En die lopen samen met Volvo/Uber en Nvidia/Bosch voorop in de race van autonoom rijden.
    HERE moet ook nog minstens 3 jaar ontwikkelen aan een real-time platform.
    En men heeft geen unieke en betrouwbare RoadDNA positioneringslaag. Daarom kiest men voor SLAM dat o.a. door de Mobileye-REM positioneringslaag wordt gebruikt.
    
    Er zijn in de toekomst allerlei datalagen bovenop de HD-maps. En er zullen zelfs autofabrikanten zijn die er meerdere tegelijkertijd gaan combineren om nog hogere kwaliteit van de positionering te krijgen. Veiligheid boven alles!
    Het zou zo maar eens kunnen dat VW HERE maps gaat gebruiken en dat dan combineert met TomTom RoadDNA + TomTom real-time Traffic.

    Iets anders wat mij bezighoudt als ik lees dat Uber en Tesla bezig zijn met eigen maps is of het eigen layers zijn of basismaps zoals die van TT.
    
    De tijd zal uitwijzen dat er meer standaarden nodig zijn voor SDC dan in scope zijn van NDS.
    
    NB: Voor het meten van hoogtes van bijvoorbeeld viaducten heb je weer andere technologie nodig die geen onderdeel zijn van Tesla HW2. Indien iedere overheid de exacte hoogte goed communiceert zou dit niet gemeten hoeven worden (tbv maps voor trucks). Of campers, ik weet nog dat ik met m'n camper net qua breedte over/door de brug bij St. Martin in FR kon, net met alkoof onder de rotsen vd Ardesch en de viaducten ten zuidoosten van het Gardameer.

    Basismaps is mission impossible (organisatie opbouwen, 5 jaar ontwikkelen en investering van 10 miljard).
    Het zijn 3d-plaatjes/layers die ze maps noemen. Uber maakt o.a. extra laag voor drop off en pick-up places.
    Die term maps voor 3d-sensorplaatjes is verwarrend en het zijn zeker geen HD-maps.

    'k vindt dat de koers in aanloop naar de CES vandaag erg weinig gestegen is.
    
    Er zijn toch altijd mensen met voorkennis, hebben die er dan geen vertrouwen in?
    (Bij dalende koersen zen er wel altijd mensen met meer kennis dan het klootjes volk)
    
    Had minstens 2,5 % opslag verwacht.
