   President Donald Trump declared at a White House news conference on the coronavirus outbreak that “we have prevailed,” as U.S. deaths from the disease exceeded 80,000 -- a remark he later said pertained only to testing for the infection.
   “Thanks to the courage of our citizens and our aggressive strategy, hundreds of thousands of lives have been saved,” Trump said. “In every generation, through every challenge and hardship and danger, America has risen to the task, we have met the moment and we have prevailed.”
   
   Asked later about his remark that the U.S. had “prevailed,” Trump said he was only talking about testing for the virus. The U.S. didn’t exceed 100,000 coronavirus tests performed until March 19, according to data compiled by the Covid Tracking Project, but more than 300,000 tests were conducted daily on Thursday, Friday and Saturday.

   "I think it's a little bit classless, frankly, to critique an administration that comes after you," McConnell told President Donald Trump's daughter-in-law, Lara Trump, during a Trump campaign live stream.
   "You had your shot, you were there for eight years. I think the tradition that the Bush's set up -- of not critiquing the president who comes after you -- is a good tradition."
   
   His comments come after Obama described the Trump administration's coronavirus response "an absolute chaotic disaster" during a private call on Friday with people who worked for him in the White House.
   The critique marked a rare break in custom for Obama who has occasionally criticized Trump -- such as when he ended the Obama-era Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals, or DACA, program and in the wake of the President's first travel ban executive order.
   
   President Donald Trump, meanwhile, has had a years-long fixation with Obama that predates his presidential campaign and has repeatedly disparaged his predecessor with unfounded conspiracy theories.
   Earlier Monday, the President was asked about one of his Mother's Day tweets where he seemingly accused Obama of some kind of conspiracy against his administration.

   Ergens is het heel goed dat de verkiezingen dit jaar plaatsvinden. Nu kan de USA op democratische wijze het land herstellen. Of dat de democraten moeten doen of de republikeinen mogen ze zelf beslissen. Dat Trump niet kan blijven moet voor een ieder duidelijk zijn. De man is gevaarlijk aan het worden. -hij bemoeit zich met de rechtspraak -hij verdeelt de amerikanen -hij zoekt ruzie met andere landen -hij bemoeit zich met de vrije pers (nu mogen de corona gevallen per bedrijf niet meer bekend gemaakt worden, het zou het recht op privacy in de weg staan).

   -appeleren aan onderbuik gevoelens
   zijn zeer gevaarlijke ontwikkelingen.
   Zeker in een tijd waarbij de USA in crisis is, waar schulden opeen gestapeld worden, grote werkeloosheid en angst voor een onzichtbare vijand.
   De chinezen manipuleren de wereld , dat doen ze ook in de USA, ze bestellen , ze plaatsten orders, iedereen blij, maar ze zijn ook net zo makkelijk in het annuleren als het ze uitkomt. Vooraleerst prikken ze gaatjes in de relatie met Australie de volgende is de USA. Dat is niet de schuld van Trump, maar dan is er wel een president nodig die visie heeft die een leider is die standvastig is. Trump heeft laten zien dat hij die eigenschappen niet heeft.

   Governors collectively have been winning widespread praise from the public for their handling of the coronavirus outbreak, often with the kind of bipartisan approval that has eluded President Trump. But a large-scale Washington Post-Ipsos poll finds that some Republican governors who have embraced reopening their states are struggling to achieve that consensus.
   
   The survey of more than 8,000 adults reveals a wide range in the assessments of Republican governors, but not for their Democratic counterparts. The disparities appear to be linked not solely to partisanship, but also to the differing paths the governors have adopted as they seek to balance efforts to contain the spread of the virus while trying to limit the damage to their economies.
   
   The contrast is widest in two states won by Trump in 2016. In Ohio, 86 percent of adults say they approve of the way Gov. Mike DeWine (R), who moved aggressively to close down his state and has been cautious about lifting the restrictions, has dealt with the crisis. In Georgia, 39 percent of adults approve of the performance of Gov. Brian Kemp (R), who moved less swiftly than some other governors to mitigate the spread and has been in the forefront of reopening the economy there.
   
   Overall, 71 percent of Americans approve of their governors’ performances, with majority approval from people in both major parties. A much smaller 43 percent approve of Trump’s efforts. In Trump’s case, assessments are dramatically partisan, with more than 8 in 10 Republicans and Republican-leaning independents approving of his handling of the crisis and almost 9 in 10 Democrats and Democratic-leaning independents disapproving.
   
   In the two largest states with Democratic governors, Gov. Gavin Newsom (Calif.) and Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo (N.Y.) receive positive marks from about 8 in 10 adults. Those lofty positive ratings dip significantly in the two largest states with Republican governors. In Florida, 60 percent of adults give Gov. Ron DeSantis positive ratings, while in Texas, 57 percent say they approve of the way Gov. Greg Abbott has handled the pandemic.

    Niet MSBNC, maar de oprichter (?) van MSNBC ziet een mogelijk probleem. Gebaseerd op de aanname dat Biden niet in staat is een coherent verhaal te houden, als straks trump stopt met leuteren:

    The NIH must not cancel awarded grants for purely political reasons
    On May 1, 2020, Science Magazine reported the cancelation of a major grant to the
    EcoHealth Alliance, an international collaboration studying how coronaviruses
    transmitting in bats can evolve to spread in human populations. Based on emails
    reviewed by Science, this decision appears to be directly related to the Trump
    administration’s belief in the conspiracy theory that the SARS-CoV-2 virus, the cause of
    COVID-19, was purposefully or accidentally released from the Wuhan Institute of
    Virology. The Wuhan Institute of Virology was a participant in the EcoHealth Alliance
    grant that was canceled.
    We ask for the immediate reinstatement of the grant to EcoHealth Alliance and for a
    congressional investigation into the decision making process at the NIH that canceled
    the funding in the first place. A vibrant community of independent scientists is crucial to
    a functioning democracy and will be the first line of defense against another crisis that
    costs as many lives as the COVID-19 pandemic.
    To be clear, there is no evidence of human engineering of the SARS-CoV-2 virus nor of
    accidental release of a laboratory viral strain. Phylogenetic analyses clearly support the
    evolution of the SARS-CoV-2 virus from bats in the wild.

    The sun had not been up for an hour when the president of the United States, in his ninth tweet of the day, said MSNBC anchor Joe Scarborough might be a murderer.
    
    The president is referring to the 2001 death of Lori Klausutis, a 28-year-old aide who worked for Scarborough when he was a Republican member of Congress representing Florida’s 1st district.
    
    The medical examiner, Dr. Michael Berkland, determined that an abnormal heart rhythm caused Klausutis to lose consciousness and fall, fatally striking her head. She was discovered in Scarborough’s office in Fort Walton Beach, lying on her back with her head near a desk, according to a police report.
    
    Trump in his tweet asked why Scarborough had left Congress so “quickly and quietly,” implying a connection between Klausutis’s death and Scarborough’s resignation. In fact, the death occurred almost two months after Scarborough announced his resignation. Klausutis was looking for a new job when she died, and Scarborough was in Washington.
    
    In a previous tweet from April 30, Trump said, “Then you have Psycho Joe ‘What Ever Happened To Your Girlfriend?’ Scarborough, another of the low I.Q. individuals!”
    
    No one alleges, and no evidence shows, that Scarborough was romantically involved with Klausutis, who was married.
    
    The White House did not respond to a request for comment.

    Waar wijzen de feiten op?
    
    In 2016 organiseerden leden van het politieke en overheids-establishment een campagne die als doel had Donald Trump van geheime samenwerking met de Russen te beschuldigen en daarmee zijn verkiezing onmogelijk te maken. Dat gebeurde met een dossier vol fakeverhalen, geschreven door Christopher Steele, een voormalige Brits spion die voor dat dossier betaald werd door de Democratische Partij.
    
    Kennelijk maakte Obama zich zorgen over de opkomst van ’Orange Man’. Ik heb het vermoeden dat Bill Clinton zijn zorgen deelde. Hillary begreep de chemie niet tussen de miljardair Trump en de ’betreurenswaardigen’, zoals zij een groot deel van het electoraat noemde, maar Obama en Clinton, beiden politieke dieren, begrepen dat wel. Hoe moesten ze hem stoppen? Dat werd ’Russiagate’, een plan om Trump onafgebroken in verband te brengen met Poetin.
    
    Het uit de duim gezogen dossier van Steele werd de basis om bij een rechtbank toestemming te krijgen leden van de Trump-campagne af te luisteren. Dat afluisteren leverde niets op. Dat weerhield de FBI er niet van geruchten naar de pers te lekken (het was de periode dat de media met de ene ’bombshell’ na de andere juichend het einde van Trump aankondigden) en daarmee werd een gigantische mediamachine gevoed, maar ook die kon Trump niet afstoppen.
    
    Tegen alle voorspellingen in werd Trump president en daarmee kwam alles wat Obama had opgebouwd onder druk te staan. Maar er was meer. Het was een kwestie van tijd voordat de smerige trucjes die Obama had toegelaten (of misschien zelfs geïnitieerd had – zijn jaren in Chicago zitten er vol van) werden opgegraven.
    
    ’Obamagate noemt Trump het: Barack Obama, gesteund door de leiding van de FBI en andere overheidsdiensten en met medewerking van de top van de Democraten, heeft in 2016 onrechtmatig geprobeerd de tegenstander van Hillary Clinton kapot te maken. Dit hield niet op na de verkiezingen: Trump moest onafgebroken onder vuur blijven liggen met verhalen over ’collusion’.
    
    In mei 2017 werd ’special counsel’ Robert Mueller aangesteld om ’collusion’ op te sporen, maar hij vond niks. Dat was geen raadsel: er was niks. Dat wist Mueller toen hij aantrad, maar hij hield het onderzoek in leven teneinde Trump op het verstoren van de rechtsgang te betrappen, waarna Trump alsnog geïmpeachet kon worden. Dat alles mislukte.
    
    Generaal Michael Flynn, een inlichtingenman die in het leger een grote staat van dienst had opgebouwd, was onder Obama twee jaar lang het hoofd van het Militaire Inlichtingen Agentschap. Maar Flynn en Obama botsten. Het was Flynns doel om de hele veiligheidspolitiek van Amerika op de schop te nemen, inclusief de organisaties die zich hiermee in Amerika bezighouden. Ook was hij tegenstander van de Iran-deal, die Obama later beschouwde als zijn belangrijkste erfstuk ten aanzien van zijn buitenlandse beleid. In de zomer van 2014 trad Flynn terug. Hij werd in 2016 Trumps keuze voor de toppositie van National Security Advisor.
    
    In december 2016 verschenen er verhalen in de media over een affaire die Flynn in 2014 zou hebben gehad met een Russin in Cambridge. Hij zou haar hebben ontmoet bij een diner in het huis van Richard Dearlove, voormalig hoofd van de Britse Buitenlandse Inlichtingendienst MI6 en vervolgens met haar het bed ingedoken zijn (onder toeziend oog van Flynns bodyguards?).
    
    Het was volkomen verzonnen, maar de media doken er op. Vlak daarop gingen geruchten circuleren dat Flynn gelogen had in een gesprek met FBI-agenten over Flynns communicatie met de Russische ambassadeur in DC. De FBI-agenten hadden geen enkele legale reden om hem te ondervragen, Flynn werd van niets beschuldigd en toch kostte hun gelekte verslag in de media hem de kop – voor de duidelijkheid: Flynn werd niet vervolgd voor spionage met de Russen maar voor een leugen in dat gesprek met de FBI-agenten (hij bekende in een latere fase omdat de FBI, illegaal zo blijkt nu, dreigde zijn zoon te vervolgen en dat wilde hij voorkomen – het is een smerige zaak).
    
    Flynn is een onkreukbare man – hij werd op basis van gemanipuleer door de FBI financieel verwoest. Zoals Carter Page en George Papadopoulos, bijfiguren in Trumps campagneteam. Want het doel was heilig. Trump moest kapot. En die bijfiguren waren aanvaardbare ’collatoral damage’.
    
    De verhoudingen liggen nu anders. Trump kondigde Obamagate aan. De media gaan hierover niet evenwichtig berichten. Ik zal dat hier voor u doen. De ’dirty tricks’ van Obama’s FBI zullen binnenkort worden onthuld. Riemen vast.
