    Microsoft is in talks to acquire TikTok, the Chinese-owned video app, according to a person with knowledge of the discussions, as President Trump said on Friday that he was considering taking steps that would effectively ban the app from the United States.

    It’s unclear how advanced the talks between Microsoft and TikTok are, but any deal could help alter TikTok’s ownership, said the person with knowledge of the talks, who spoke on the condition of anonymity. TikTok is owned by ByteDance, a Chinese internet company that is valued at $100 billion. That has raised scrutiny of the app, with Trump administration officials saying that they have been concerned that TikTok poses a threat to national security.

    The Trump administration has been weighing whether to order ByteDance to divest from American assets it acquired in 2017, which were later merged into TikTok. Bloomberg reported Friday that the president was poised to announce an order that would force ByteDance to sell TikTok’s U.S. operations.

    The Trump administration has also been weighing other potential actions against the company, including adding ByteDance to a so-called “entity list,” which prevents foreign companies from purchasing American products and services without a special license, according to people familiar with the matter.

    “We’re looking at TikTok, we may be banning TikTok,” Mr. Trump told reporters on Friday before heading to Florida. “We may be doing some other things. There’s a couple of options. But a lot of things are happening, so we’ll see what happens. But we are looking at a lot of alternatives with respect to TikTok.”

    1 dag na de onthulling wordt er nu verklaard, dat die onderzoeken worden gestopt. Politici, voormalige functionarissen, en burgerrechten-organisaties hebben kritisch gereageerd naar DHS.

    Internet accuses Jared Kushner of ‘genocide’ and ‘murder’ over report huge testing plan was nixed to hurt blue states

    A stunning Vanity Fair exposé revealing the Trump administration actually spent months creating a nationwide testing program, only to quietly kill it because they thought the coronavirus would be contained to blue states and have minimal effect on red states is getting attention.

    Jared Kushner, the president’s son-in-law and senior advisor, was responsible for creating the program and for the decision to kill it – reportedly on the grounds it would be politically advantageous for Trump to blame Democratic governors for high coronavirus cases, and presumably, deaths.

    “The political folks believed that because it was going to be relegated to Democratic states, that they could blame those governors, and that would be an effective political strategy,” said the expert.

    “It was very clear that Jared was ultimately the decision maker as to what [plan] was going to come out,” the expert added.

    On social media many are furious. Some are calling for Kushner’s resignation, some are accusing Kushner of murder or even genocide, and others are demanding his prosecution.

    Dershowitz had Esptein verdedigd tegen beschuldigingen van aanranding. Documenten vrijgegeven op vrijdag betrokken de advocaat in de zaak. Op vrijdagavond, Dershowitz verscheen op tucker Carlson's show in een poging om zichzelf te verdedigen.

    Carlson sneed recht op de jacht, vraagt de advocaat, "Maar toen je op pedo eiland, of je was op zijn plaats. Toen je zijn huis in Palm Beach leende... of uw huis in New York. Elke foto die ik ooit heb gezien, van deze eigenschappen, zie je jonge vrouwen in de buurt. Waren er geen jonge vrouwen toen u in zijn vliegtuig of een van zijn bezittingen?"

    Dershowirtz antwoordde: "De enige keer was door academische situaties, toen ik hem vertegenwoordigde als advocaat - ja, hij leende me zijn huis omdat mijn kleindochter was in een voetbaltoernooi, maar het was leeg. Het was alleen de huishoudster en het was gewoon een vriendelijk gebaar."

    Terwijl de populariteit van Donald Trump blijft wankelen, is er altijd een drempel geweest waarop Mitch McConnell zou besluiten trump overboord te gooien in de hoop de Republikeinse Senaat races te redden. Zo werkt politiek. De vraag is altijd geweest of Trump zo ver zou vallen dat de drempel van McConnell zou worden bereikt.

    We wachten nog steeds af of Trump wankelt tot het punt dat McConnell publiekelijk tegen hem uitkomt in de hoop republikeinen in de Senaat te isoleren van Trumps ondergang. Maar het blijkt dat we in feite het punt hebben bereikt waarop McConnell republikeinen in de Senaat privé vertelt dat ze meer dan welkom zijn om individueel uit te komen tegen Trump als het hun herverkiezingsbiedingen zal helpen.

    Vergis je niet. Door republikeinen in de Senaat toestemming te geven om Donald Trump onder de bus te gooien, schaadt Mitch McConnell trumps herverkiezingskansen. McConnell heeft de berekening gemaakt dat het beter is om met de witte vlag te zwaaien in elke hoop op een tweede Trump-termijn, ten gunste van het proberen om de senaatsraces te redden.

    Dit betekent niet dat we ons kunnen ontspannen. Als er iets, met McConnell nu volledig gericht op de Senaat races, betekent dit dat we zullen moeten zetten in nog meer werk om de score op de verkiezingsdag lopen en ervoor te zorgen dat de Republikeinse senatoren naar beneden gaan met Trump.
