   ArcelorMittal to ramp up Essar Steel capacity - Brian Aranha

   Business Standard reported that ArcelorMittal's proposal for Essar Steel includes a plan to increase the plant's capacity from its current nameplate capacity of 10 million tonnes. Brian Aranha, executive vice president and head of strategy at ArcelorMittal said that Essar Steel was a large facility and there was scope to grow the plant even bigger. Asked to what extent it was possible to ramp up capacity at Essar, he declined to divulge details citing confidentiality clause of the proposal, but said, it was part of the plan submitted by the company.
   
   Aranha was part of the team that had done due diligence of Essar Steel plant. Industry sources, however, said, it was possible for Essar Steel to ramp up capacity to 15 million tonnes which was at one point part of the company's corporate plan.
   
   Aranha said that Essar was a unique collection of assets with all its facilities, the pellet plant, arc furnaces and Corex operations all of which fit into ArcelorMittal's scheme of things.
   
   Essar Steel's manufacturing facility comprises ore beneficiation, pellet making, iron making, steel making, and downstream facilities including cold rolling mill, galvanising, pre-coated facility, steel processing facility, extra wide plate mill and a pipe mill.

    ArcelorMittal will build a new heating plant in Zenica with Finns

    Sarajevo Times reported that ArcelorMittal and the City of Zenica, with its partners from Finland, are in the final phase of establishing a joint venture to build a new heating plant which will heat this city. On February 8th this year, the Council of Competition of Bosnia and Herzegovina received a joint application of the intended concentration of ArcelorMittal Zenica, City of Zenica, KPA Unicon Finland and Finnish Fund for Industrial Cooperation.
    
    The application refers to the establishment of a joint venture company, in the form of a limited liability company. During this week, all those who have certain remarks and opinions on this application can submit it to the Council of Competition.
    
    KPA Unicon is the supplier of boilers, and the Finnish Fund for Industrial Cooperation is the Finnish state investment fund.
    
    Apart from that, plans for the construction of a new heating plant have been announced earlier. As mentioned before, ArcelorMittal would have 50 percent of the company’s share, the City of Zenica 20 percent of share, and the Finnish partners remaining 30 percent.
    
    After the establishment of the company, the preparation of project documentation and procurement of boilers will follow. It was announced earlier that the heating plant should be put into operation by the end of 2019.
    
    This heating plant should reduce air pollution in the city, because gases produced during the production process at ArcelorMittal plant will be used as gas-fuel for the production of heat energy.

    Steel market dynamics showing 'major shift,' analyst says

    Recent channel checks with service centers point to a "major shift" in steel market dynamics during the past 30-45 days, according to Credit Suisse analyst Curt Woodworth.
    Most mills are quoting $800/ton for hot rolled coil and almost all service centers have noted price levels closer to $800 vs. $775 for new buys, the analyst says, adding that a Q2 sheet shortage is a "real possibility."
    Woodworth believes $850-$900/ton HRC is likely by Q2, and would move materially higher if Pres. Trump implements more broad based tariffs, as the U.S. market would experience a more severe shortage.
    Relevant tickers include X, AKS, NUE, STLD, CMC, CLF, MT, WOR, RS, SLX.

    Zelfde als vorige keer . De verkiezingen in Italie as zondag en de gevolgen daarvan voor de EU.
    De laatste keer dat rechts won kostte dit arcelor een dip van 3%.

    AM zit in een smalle bandbreedte tussen de € 28,00 en de € 28,80
    Het is wachten op een uitbraak, maar hopelijk naar boven..!
    Voor hogere koersen moet de AEX echter wel weer richting 540
