   Test BMW OS8: Infotainmentsystem setzt auf die Cloud
   BMW hat die hauseigene Infotainment-Plattform OS7 zu OS8 weiterentwickelt. Dabei blieb es im Großen und Ganzen bei den bisherigen Stärken und Schwächen.
   
   Probleme mit POI in Here Maps
   Das Navi funktioniert wie schon bei OS7 sehr gut und bei einigermaßen Netzabdeckung obendrein beeindruckend schnell. Eine nach Verkehr und Nachladung optimierte Route erscheint bei brauchbarer Server-Verbindung praktisch sofort nach der Zieleingabe. Etwas störend macht sich bei allen Kunden von Here Maps bemerkbar, dass Here die Positionen von Ladestationen offenbar als GPS-Koordinaten anfährt. Das führt dazu, dass die Anfahrten manchmal nicht stimmen.

   Eine Ladestation, die an einem Parkplatz sehr nahe an einer Bundesstraße steht, will das Navi dann über die Bundesstraße anfahren, obwohl das nicht möglich ist. Richtig wäre der Weg über den Parkplatz der zugehörigen Adresse. Das sollte Here dringend verbessern. Ein einfacher Fix wäre bereits: auf der (oft schlecht kartografierten) Autobahn-Raststelle GPS-Koordinaten verwenden, sonst lieber die Anfahradresse. Das wäre dann sogar auf Fahrzeug-Hersteller-Seite als Filter möglich, wenn Here sich zu viel Zeit lässt.

   Automotive technology developer Aptiv announced its acquiring software company Wind River as part of its expansion in the automotive software space. The acquisition of Wind River will position Aptiv as a key player in the automotive software market, which is expected to grow rapidly over the next decade.
   
   Aptiv purchased Wind River from private equity firm TPG Capital, for $4.3 billion in cash.
   
   Wind River, which is based in the San Francisco Bay Area, is a developer of software for intelligent edge applications. The company's software is installed in over two billion edge devices across multiple industries. The software enables the secure development, deployment and servicing of mission-critical intelligent systems, such as those that power self-driving vehicles.

   2018 verkoopt Intel Wind river aan TPG voor een onbekend bedrag
   2022 Verkoopt TPG Wind river voor 4,3 miljard dollar aaan Aptiv.
   
   2017 koopt Intel Mobileye voor 15 miljard dollar.
   2022 brengt ( voornemens ) intel Mobileye naar de beurs, geschatte waarde 50 miljard.
   
   Intel houdt een meerderheidsbelang 50 plus en houdt 25 -15 is 10 miljard over.
   
   10 miljard in the pocket en 50,1% in Mobleye.
   
   Not bad for Intel :-)

   Platform will be integrated into the ES8’s infotainment system when it arrives. The Platform has natural language understanding and text-to-speech capabilities, all of which will allow it to serve as a comprehensive voice assistant for the person behind the wheel. For example, drivers can use the assistant to issue simple commands and safely control elements like the radio and the navigation system while on the road.
   
   The Cerence Automotive Platform was built to be a turnkey solution, which is to say that carmakers can deploy it without a lengthy development period. While the Platform will access some features through the cloud, it also supports on-board speech recognition to ensure stable voice performance in areas with poor wireless connectivity.
   
   “NIO is a pioneer and a game changer at the forefront of the future of electric vehicles, transforming the innovation landscape in today’s automotive industry in China and worldwide,” said Cerence SVP and Mobility Solutions GM Charles Kuai. “We’re proud to partner with NIO in developing a digital companion that supports and excites their drivers with an intuitive, intelligent, future-forward assistant experience.”
   
   Cerence first partnered with NIO back in October of 2020, roughly a year after it released an AI Reference Kit (ARK) for the Chinese market. The company has now provided voice assistant technology for several leading Chinese auto makers, including Great Wall Motors, the Geely Auto Group, Xpeng, and Beijing Electric Vehicle. Like NIO, Beijing Electric Vehicle and XPeng are electric vehicle makers that showcased Cerence’s voice technology in electric SUVs.

   Misschien is IndiGO van TT wel hetzelfde als het Cerence infotainment platform en het Bosch infotainment platform...... en is IndiGO de naam die TT eraan heeft gegeven....... of de stakeholders hebben het concept van TT gejat ;-)) ....... toch maar een toplogie maken binnenkort....

    2022 Lexus NX All-New Infotainment (probably) not IndiGO but to get a indication of the price.
    
    The Lexus navigation system is cloud-based, which means it can be dynamically updated, but it requires a Drive Connect subscription package.
    The Drive Connect subscription is priced at $16 per month, vehicles equipped with the larger 14-inch display get three years of access included. Vehicles with the smaller 9.8-inch screen do not receive a trial period.

    Tot IndiGO had ik nog niet van Cerence gehoord, nu vliegen de deals en berichten je om de oren. Komt misschien ook omdat ik wat zoekwoorden heb toegevoegd zoals "infotainment" :-)
