    Ik denk niet dat we nog onder de 1 euro gaan, Belgische regering wil gaan praten met alle betrokken partijen, en wil stabiliteit creëren ook voor de Fortis Holding. Misschien worden ze dan toch nog verstandig.

    Georges Ugeux, who was elected to the Fortis board at the meeting on Wednesday and is now the frontrunner for chairman, will be approaching the Belgian government and BNP to come up with a better agreement, according to Jean-Pierre Palenick, secretary general of Euroshareholders. The group represents many of the shareholders that voted against the sale of 75% of Fortis Bank and 10% of the firm's Belgian insurance division to BNP Paribas. "He believes it is better to have BNP within the group," Palenick told Forbes.

    Charles Demoulin of Deminor, a shareholder group representing 2.0% of Fortis' capital, said it too was in favor of further negotations. "We have never said we were against BNP or the government. We want to reorganize the deal so it is more satisfactory and fair to shareholders," he said.

    BNP Paribas declined to comment.

    Fortis (other-otc: FORSY - news - people ) investors voted against a deal with the French bank late Wednesday, after a long and raucous meeting at which outgoing board members of Fortis showed little sign of wavering or attempting to improve the deal's terms.

    Investors first rejected the sale of Fortis assets to the Dutch government, with just 43.0% in favor of the move. Then a vote on the sale to BNP, which hung on the vote on the sale of Fortis' Belgian banking assets, also failed: 50.53% said the Belgian assets should not go. When the meeting's moderator declared that a sale to BNP could no longer go ahead, loud applause and shouts erupted from the packed meeting hall, at which 22.3% of Fortis' capital was represented.

    However, the "no" camp had been garnering support, especially after Ping An Insurance, Fortis' largest shareholder, said it was against the deal. That camp also won over individual investors furious at the money they had lost from the collapse of Fortis' shares last year. Some of these investors used the meeting ahead of the vote to express their anger, venting it on Fortis Chief Executive Jan-Michiel Hessel. "Your nose is growing longer all the time," said a surgeon who had lost millions, eliciting laughter and applause from the audience.

    achteraf ben ik blij dat de geit reinders een blunder heeft begaan met die 125 mlj aandelen. Nu duikt iedereen over hem heen. aangezien 95% van de belgen voor de hernieuwde deal hebben gestemd kunnen de aandeelhouders op een beetje sympathie rekenen nu. Van rompuy kondigde aan dat hij met alle betrokken partijen gaat praten incl de vertegenwoordigers van de AH's. Ik vind het een goede onwikkeling. Iedereen is nu van overtuigd dat FBB verkocht moet worden met een beetje water bij de wijn is iedereen binnenkort tevreden.
    MAAR DE GEIT REINDERS MOETEN ZE AFSCHIETEN!!!!

    Dat is heel optimistisch, niets mis mee. Ik ben eerder pesimistisch en hou het op 3.00€.

    Realistisch zou dan tuseen 3.75€ en 4.25€ zijn?
    Dus doe mij maar 3.75€ dan aangezien ik wat voorzichtig ben.
