    MARKET TALK: Betere autoverkopen in tweede helft 2013 - BOVAG/RAI

    AMSTERDAM (Dow Jones)--BOVAG en RAI Vereniging voorzien een verbetering van de autoverkopen in de tweede helft van 2013, melden de branche-organisaties voor de Nederlandse auto-industrie. Het herstel is vooral te danken aan fiscale maatregelen, waardoor de autoverkopen in het voorgaande jaar een forse piek lieten zien in het eerste halfjaar, gevolgd door een dip in de tweede helft van 2012. Beide waren ingegeven waren door fiscale aanpassingen. "In de eerste helft van 2012 zagen we dat particuliere en zakelijke rijders hun aankoop van auto's naar voren trokken, vanwege een verscherping van de CO2-grenzen in de BPM en bijtelling per 1 juli van dat jaar", zegt Olaf de Bruijn, directeur van RAI Vereniging, over de grote daling in de eerste helft van dit jaar. "Dit jaar is er geen tussentijdse aanscherping van de CO2-grenzen. Pas 1 januari 2014 worden de grenzen weer aangescherpt en daarom denken wij dat we over de tweede helft van dit jaar betere verkoopcijfers kunnen noteren", aldus De Bruijn. Hij verwacht dat de verkopen met name in de laatste maanden van 2013 weer zullen aantrekken. "Dat neemt niet weg dat we voor het hele jaar 2013 vasthouden aan onze prognose van 410.000 stuks, een daling van 18% ten opzichte van 2012."(EPR)

    TomTom deploys mobile mapping technology to create most accurate road map of Brazil

    Amsterdam, 10 July 2013 – In advance of the upcoming major sporting events in Brazil, TomTom today announces it has deployed its advanced Mobile Mapping (MoMa) technology in the country. The phased MoMa programme aims to provide road users with the most accurate maps of over 85,000 kilometres of the country's road network by early 2014.

    To date, over 10,000 kilometres of São Paulo state have already been driven by the MoMa car, identifying more than 17,000 changes to the map, ranging from new speed limits, lane changes to new toll roads or updates to road restrictions.

    Map updates have also been incorporated via TomTom's MapShare crowd sourcing functionality, which enables users to report changes directly to TomTom for actioning, of which over 250,000 are reported every month.

    "With Brazil hosting a number of major sporting events in the coming years, we have deployed a Mobile Mapping programme to deliver the freshest, most accurate road network data for the country's road users," said said Eszter Pattantyus, Vice Presidents TomTom Maps TomTom.     Binnen Google maps wordt Google offers geïntegreerd. Een actie die de concurrentie aangaat met onder andere Groupon en andere aanbieders van lokale aanbiedingen en kortingen.

    Als je echter als Google realtime die advertenties wilt tonen, dan moet de klant wel een live map hebben en geen offline map. Daarom verdwijnt offline maps bij Google.

    Hieruit blijkt dat hun verdienmodel ze min of meer "verplicht" om idd af te stappen van offline maps. Dit is voor TomTom (en ook voor andere navigatiebedrijven) positief.
