   Mechelen, Belgium; 16 December 2009 – Galapagos NV (Euronext: GLPG) announced today that it has expanded its arthritis alliance with GlaxoSmithKline (LSE & NYSE: GSK) to include additional drug discovery programs based on novel drug target GT622. Under the terms of this extension, Galapagos will receive a payment from GSK of €6.5 million cash and becomes eligible for additional success-based milestones and royalties. Since the start of the alliance in June 2006, Galapagos has received a total of €41 million in payments from GSK. The expanded arthritis alliance with GSK is now worth more than €200 million in milestones, plus up to double-digit royalties.
   
   Earlier this month, Galapagos delivered the first clinical candidate, GLPG0555, in its arthritis alliance with GSK. Galapagos developed GLPG0555 based on the novel arthritis target GT622, identified through Galapagos’ target discovery platform. Encouraged by this target’s promising mode of action, GSK and Galapagos have now expanded the scope of the GT622 program to increase the chances of developing a new medicine based on this target. Under the broadened alliance, Galapagos will apply its medicinal chemistry and biology expertise to develop additional candidate compounds against GT622.
   
   “With the candidate GLPG0555 in the clinic, this was the right moment to broaden the program and increase development efforts,” said Onno van de Stolpe, Chief Executive Officer of Galapagos. “Through the €6.5 million payment and milestones for additional molecules ahead of us, this alliance is well financed and in excellent shape to progress novel arthritis candidate drugs into the clinic.”
   
   About the arthritis alliance
   In June 2006, GSK and Galapagos initiated an arthritis alliance to discover and develop disease-modifying drugs for GSK’s global R&D organization. In July 2007 and December 2008, GSK and Galapagos signed expansions to include additional targets into the alliance.
   
   GSK and Galapagos have now broadened the alliance to include additional programs based on the novel drug target GT622 and will focus research efforts on multiple arthritis indications. GSK has an exclusive option to further develop and commercialize compounds originating from these programs on a worldwide basis.
   
   The programs in the arthritis alliance with GSK are independent of the targets in Galapagos’ rheumatoid arthritis alliance with Janssen Pharmaceutica.

   today that it has entered into a global multi-year strategic alliance with Roche (SIX:
   RO, ROG; OTCQX: RHHBY) to develop potential new therapies in COPD (chronic
   obstructive pulmonary disease).
   In the alliance, Galapagos will apply its target discovery platform to discover novel COPD targets.
   Galapagos is then responsible for the discovery and development of new small molecule
   candidate drugs against these targets. Roche will have an exclusive option to license each small
   molecule program after either clinical candidate selection or completion of Phase I clinical trials.
   In addition, Roche has an exclusive option to license the COPD targets for the discovery and
   development of antibodies against these targets. Upon exercise of each option, Roche will be
   responsible for the further (pre)clinical development and commercialization.
   Under the terms of the agreement, Galapagos has received a research access payment of €6
   million from Roche. Galapagos is also eligible to receive discovery, development, regulatory and
   sales milestone payments that could potentially exceed €400 million, plus royalties upon
   commercialization of any products covered in the agreement.
   “This alliance with Roche on discovering novel COPD targets demonstrates the versatility of
   Galapagos’ target discovery platform in identifying novel targets across a wide range of
   therapeutic areas. We are excited that this collaboration will focus on both antibodies and small
   molecules as potential drugs for COPD,” said Onno van de Stolpe, CEO of Galapagos. “Roche’s
   vast experience in developing and commercializing antibodies makes it the perfect partner for
   this combined approach.”

    Kijk de PB's uit het verleden er maar eens op na.
    Met die stilte loopt het imo wel los...er valt genoeg te vinden aan nieuws en ontwikkelingen
    ....en natuurlijk er speelt altijd iets.

    Crucell heeft naast aandelen Galapagos ook om niet een Per C6 licentie verstrekt aan Galapagos.
    Wat ik me nu afvraag over die licentie is wat de afspraken zijn wanneer partijen indirect via Galapagos met Per C6 antistoffen ontwikkelen en produceren. Dan doet Crucell zich met zijn gratis licentie aan Galapagos zelf tekort. En wat als Galapagos de produkten op de markt brengt, krijgt Crucell dan wel royalties?
    
    Iemand een idee hoe dit geregeld is?

    Crucell spin-out Galapagos Genomics NV to complete a private placement
    
    Leiden, The Netherlands, March 4, 2002 - Dutch antibody and vaccine company Crucell N.V. (NASDAQ, Euronext: CRXL) today announced that Galapagos Genomics NV intends to complete a private placement. The financial investors include a triple-A consortium of venture capital firms not related to Crucell. Financial details will be disclosed in a Galapagos Genomics NV press release this week.
    
    Galapagos Genomics NV was founded by Crucell to exploit its proprietary human cell expression platform PER.C6 in the field of functional genomics. It was established in 1999 as a joint venture with the Belgium-based Tibotec-Virco, which contributed its high throughput screening technologies. To date, these companies jointly invested 9 million Euro in Galapagos.
    
    Crucell's CEO Dinko Valerio said: "We are proud of the successes achieved by Galapagos Genomics. It falls in line with Crucell's strategy of rolling out our PER.C6 technology as an industry-wide human cell expression platform. This is one of the ways in which we seek to capitalize on the great commercial value of PER.C6 and to create value for our shareholders."

    Wij zullen niet voor eeuwig aandeelhouder zijn in Galapagos. Wij zitten niet in de business van het beleggen maar in de business van het juist omspringen met aandeelhoudersgeld. Met dat geld hebben wij een technologie ontwikkeld die door Galapagos gebruikt is. In return hebben wij een onderdeel van dat bedrijf verkregen en straks hebben wij weer de mogelijkheid om dat terug te plaatsen in de markt en daar geld voor te verkrijgen. Als er een goed moment is, zullen wij dat niet nalaten.
    
    2007
    Wij hadden op een gegeven moment 50% van Galapagos, omdat het
    gestart is samen met Tibotec en daarna is ondergebracht bij Janssen Farmaceutica in België. Wij hebben nooit aandelen verkocht maar zij zijn verwaterd van 50% tot 6% en ruim 6% op dit moment, omdat er andere partijen bij zijn gekomen en zij aandelen hebben uitgegeven om hun groei te bekostigen. Wij vinden Galapagos nog steeds een verschrikkelijk interessant bedrijf dat heel veel goede diingen heeft gedaan met een heel sterk partnership met Glaxo, waarvoor ze enorm veel werk doen. Die aandelen staan bij ons op de balans onder het kopje dat suggestief ‘marketable securities for sale’ heet. Dat betekent niet, dat we dat onmiddellijk willen doen. Het is geen strategisch belang, maar het is wel een belang dat zo’n EUR 11 mln. tot EUR 12 mln. waard is en dat we een keer willen verkopen. Gezien onze kaspositie is dat geen absolute noodzaak en we wachten liever even af tot de koers ook wat is gestegen. Dan is het wat meer waard voor ons. We zitten niet op gloeiende kolen wat dat betreft.

    We set up that company together with the department of Johnson & Johnson in Belgium. And we each had 50%. Over the years, we diluted that because we never took part in the subsequent capital injection.
    
    2009
    Market cap is now approximately EUR1 billion and we still have -- hold a 6% stake in a company that we established about ten years ago, Galapagos Genomics and we're delighted that that company is thriving at this time. We're very proud of that. The Company uses the same technology as the technology that we invented in the '90s, PER.C6 technology, that's the technology that we traded best in recent years.

    Mechelen, Belgium; 12 January 2010 - Galapagos NV (Euronext: GLPG) announced today that its BioFocus service division has achieved success in its oncology target discovery collaboration with Ortho Biotech Oncology Research & Development, a division of Janssen Pharmaceutica N.V. (Janssen). The success of the program has resulted in EUR 1.6 million in target acceptance payments to BioFocus.
    
    In the two-year target discovery collaboration initiated in January 2008, BioFocus performed assay development using cancer cells, target discovery with the SilenceSelect® adenoviral collection as well as target validation. Today's success involved BioFocus developing advanced cellular assays using high-content imaging, and identifying and validating novel drug targets for cancer areas with unmet medical need. The collaboration has been extended into 2010, to enable BioFocus to further develop complex screening assays for additional targets. BioFocus may receive success-based payment of up to an additional EUR 4.5 million should certain downstream criteria be reached by Janssen.

    Mechelen, Belgium; 15 January 2010 – Galapagos NV (Euronext: GLPG) announced today that it has reached milestones in both of its global strategic alliances with an affiliate of Merck & Co., Inc (Merck). The achievement of these milestones has entitled Galapagos to receive an aggregate payment of €3.6 million from Merck.
    
    In the alliances, initiated in January and April 2009, Galapagos is responsible for the discovery and pre-clinical development of new small molecule candidate drugs based on novel Galapagos targets in metabolic disease and inflammatory disease. Under the terms of the alliances, Galapagos is eligible to receive discovery, development and regulatory milestone payments that could potentially exceed €590 million total for multiple products, as well as specific sales milestones and royalties upon commercialization of any products covered in the agreements. Together with upfront fees of €4.0 million, Galapagos has received a total of €7.6 million from Merck.
    
    “Less than one year after initiating these alliances with Merck, we have met the first milestones, ahead of schedule. Total payments from all our alliances since June 2006 now exceed €100 million, underscoring the viability of the Company’s alliance strategy and business model going forward,” said Onno van de Stolpe, CEO of Galapagos.
    
    About Galapagos’ metabolic disease alliance with Merck
    In January 2009, Galapagos announced an alliance with Merck in diabetes and obesity; this agreement was expanded in October 2009 to include small candidate drugs for atherosclerosis. The alliance makes use of Galapagos’ proprietary SilenceSelect® target discovery platform for identification of novel targets. Galapagos is responsible for the discovery and pre-clinical development of new small molecule candidate drugs based on novel Galapagos targets. After validation, targets will be selected by a joint steering committee and entered into screening and chemistry by Galapagos. Merck has the option to acquire an exclusive license to each candidate drug, and upon exercise of such an option, Merck will be responsible for the development and commercialization of the candidate drug. Galapagos may execute Phase I clinical studies and will have the right to further develop and commercialize certain compounds for which Merck does not exercise its exclusive option. Under the terms of the expanded metabolic alliance agreement, Galapagos is eligible to receive research, regulatory and sales milestone payments that may total in excess of €400 million. In addition Galapagos is eligible to receive royalties upon commercialization of any products covered under the agreement.
    
    About Galapagos’ inflammatory disease alliance with Merck
    Announced in April 2009, the inflammatory disease alliance also makes use of Galapagos’ proprietary SilenceSelect® target discovery platform for identification of novel targets. Alliance structure, process, and roles are similar to the metabolic disease alliance. Galapagos is eligible to receive discovery, development and regulatory milestone payments that could potentially exceed €192 million total for multiple products, as well as specific sales milestones and royalties upon commercialization of any products covered under the inflammatory alliance agreement.

    De manier waarop Galapagos aan de weg timmert is totaal anders dan Crucell. Zou me niks verbazen als de koers van Galapagos binnen een jaar boven die van Crucell staat. De koers van Crucell is totaal niet te begrijpen. En waarom houden ze zoveel kasmiddelen aan en doen er niks mee. Crucell is op dit moment een groot raadsel voor mij.
